Thoughts on WHO?

You have been instructed through the scripture to no longer call him your Master, but you shall call him your Husband. Do you have a hard time following the instructions left unto you?
Uh, that would be that law keeping thing you keep railing against. You know, that 'eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thing'. I wouldn't want to go there, now would I?

Oh yes, the omniscient, the all knowing, the mighty and magnificant Jethro Bodine! Yes lets give a hand and a big round of applause to Jethro Bodine.

Oh wait, your comment is much more telling about yourself than it has anything to do with the OP. What happened Jethro (or is it Lars, is that what it was?), did my comment and apology to the Lord prick you in your little heart? Were you offended by it?

But how should I respond to a man who thinks he fulfills the Law Of Moses by Faith, but can't even obey the First Commandment?
Should the Holy Spirit reveal the glory of G-d to a heart that is full of idolatry?

No Jethro, I am not criticizing you, just pointing out the obvious.

.
I must say, for a person who wants us all to worship God, these comments are far from it.
Maybe we should all start over without the bad attitudes.

Ezrider, I hope you have a sense of humor. :lol But really, this 'alas', and 'unto' stuff's gotta stop. And this secret knowledge stuff has to quit.

It's okay to instruct little babes, but not the way you're doing it. And unless you want to go with what the Bible says, and not this other secret stuff, I'd stay away from trying to teach Christians about the things of the faith. Honestly.

No. I'm confident that what happened was exactly what he planned all along. The conversation was doomed from the beginning.

I for one am not going to sit around while being talked down to. The Lounge was my place of refuge from this kind of stuff. This is where we lighten up.

If ezrider wants to loosen up his tie a bit and rub shoulders with the rest of us he'll be received. :)

Wow, must have been a little bit bigger than just a little prick to your heart then, wasn't it?

But Jethro Bodine, you are the one who has stood upon your soap box and have declared that I am not your brother. You have openly declared yourself to be an Adversary to me. What more should I say to you then, other than:
Get behind me Satan.

Oh, don't feel so bad, it's not so bad. Just think of yourself as Peter, for he heard those words too!

Hey Jethro Bodine.

When you have the inspiration to start a thread on the deeper things form the word and begin to express your thoughts on the matter, I would encourage you to do so. But I have looked Jethro, and it looks like you don't have much on your own to say. What topics have you attempted to bring to the light. Why don't you go and start your own thread. There is nothing I can seem to find in the ToS for this web site that says the Jethro Bodine must respond to one of my threads. If you find what I am presenting so objectionable, then why not just ignore it, like I do with any of your threads.

But you can't help yourself can you, for it was you was waiting for me to engage you in this thread so you could turn it into what you then describe for yourself as my intent. But if you would notice, I did not respond to any of your comments, for 4 pages worth of comments, and still, alas, and unto, and thus it was, that I only responded to your accusation as to the intent of this thread after your little heart was pricked.

But I can tell you from the comments, that at at least a few people have been blessed, and they took much away from the OP and few comments that followed, but they did not get that from me. They listen for Him.

The Spirit and the Bride say come, but you would not.

This could be a culmination of a bunch of topics that are happening. I think that men have a really hard time relating to BRIDE. Cause most of the time, that is not the case with men.

We all know that Jesus gives the ten virgins and the bridegroom parable. Matthew 25:1-13

He obviously is the bridegroom in the scenario. So, ten virgins are "all of us" believers and how people handle waiting for him to come and get us.

Ephesians 5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, with out stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.

This comparing Jesus to the husband and believers to wife.

So, this is tricky. Jethro liked to say "lover of my soul". That could be compared to a husband. I will throw out some descriptions of a good husband and forget gender or sex for a minute, cause that is the hang-up with guys I think.

Husband protects
Husband takes care of
Husband gives up his life for you
Husband goes out and works
Husband loves you like life itself
Husband can't wait to see you
Husband is your best friend
Husband cares what you have to say

Okay, that is from a woman's perspective. Maybe it is hard for men to have another man do this for them?

Dear Lord we are Your church
The bride prepared for You
Nothings borrowed
Nothings blue
Nothings old
all is new
Clothed in linen
Pure and white
Pleasing fragrance
Beautiful sight
The bride prepared
For the Lord’s delight
She longs to be taken home

I don't see your reasoning at all.
You put different verses together and then tell us we are to call Jesus our husband.
Not good doctrine at all.

I believe Jesus is our friend.
I feel real good that he considers us his friends.
John 15:13-15;
"Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you".

The warmth and love of this passage is all we need.

Ephesians 5:30-32 for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is the profound mystery - but I am talking about Christ and the church.

Who has to put different scriptures together to reason out that we are indeed betrothed to Christ, that we are the bride, and He is our Husband.

If you would have read the OP and the first few comments, it should be plain before your eyes. No interpretation required, no theological acrobatics or contortion to make it fit. None indeed. It is right there in plain old black and white.

Hosea 2:16 (KJV)
And it shall be at that day, saith the Lord, that thou shalt call me Ishi;
and shalt call me no more Baali.

Hosea 2:16 (NKJV)
And it shall be, in that day,
Says the Lord,
That you will call Me ‘My Husband, '
And no longer call Me ‘My Master, ’

Now, to ignore what is plainly written in the scripture; why that is not sound doctrine either.

I don't think anyone is contending with that. What I personally do not like is literally making our relationship with Christ a Harlequin romance.

Of course this is what husbands do for their wives (when they love them....and the wife will have him, lol). I don't think there is any argument here. It's this romantic element you're adding that I'm resisting.

Okay, that is from a woman's perspective.
Right. We men don't purposely try to relate to making one's relationship with Christ akin to a woman's hormones driving her to long for love.

Maybe it is hard for men to have another man do this for them?
No, it's not hard.
A father also does all those things you listed.

I personally have no problem being a metaphorical wife to Christ. That's the metaphor the Bible uses. But that's all it is--a metaphor. What I resist is making it a romantic relationship with Christ. If you want to have that kind of relationship with Christ in your mind then go for it, but I'm not going to. My male hormones do not lead me that way.

If you want I can list the reasons why it is so fitting that God uses a married woman to describe the church. You ladies will have to promise not to kill me afterwards, lol. :lol

Jethro - I agree with all you said. I think I do feel slightly different than a man would about Jesus, because of those hormones you are speaking of. Everything else that has to do with loving someone fully, is the same between men and Christ. I don't think he would fault me with loving him the way I do and I don't think he would fault you for your love.

That is why I never said you have to love him exactly like I do.

Are you a woman?

The Harlequin romance reference is funny because........... Years ago when I first read Song of Solomon I told a friend I had to look back at the cover of the bible to make sure I hadn't picked up a Harlequin romance book. After studying the song of Solomon it brought understanding of the intimacy that Christ desired with His bride. Good stuff!

Every love song ever written
Reflects the love from You

Love that’s pure and perfect
In everything You do
Fill me Lord with Your Love
May this work be done
The world won’t see this servant
The world will see Your Son
