What Do We Know About the Holy Spirit?

How is it possible to be a son if you have no father? If you were from everlasting to everlasting, who could possibly be your father? If you are a son, that means you must have a progenitor (father) who made you, therefore in the case of the father son dynamic, the father would be the authority, the creator, the god, and the son would be subject to, created by, and under the authority of the father and therefore NOT the God.

I believe God needed to come to earth in the form of a man, so he did so as Jesus Christ. He called himself the Son of Man. I am not sure why he chose to call himself that, though I have an idea, but it doesn’t matter if I understand or not. None of us understands everything—Paul said so.

I believe in one God who has three responsibilities—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—like a man who also has three responsibilities—husband, father, and son.

That is your term, not what the word speaks to us. Holy Spirit is a Person with character. A person has three characteristics: a mind, a will and emotions. Holy Spirit has all three.

As personal human beings we all have these qualities all of these are qualities. Another quality of being personal is that one has life. A person is identified as a self-conscious being, cognizant of its own existence and the existence of others who also have a self-identity. A will indicates the ability to think, to reason, a choice to act, having desire these are things we associate with self consciousness which is exclusive to Persons. All of these qualities the Holy Spirit has, just as the Son and Father. We find the Holy Spirit is the executive of the Father. He is co-creator of the universe, The author of divine Scripture, the generator of Christ’s humanity, the regenerator of the believer and the distributor of eternal life, for He also eternally exists.
The Holy Spirit is identified as a Person by John, using in the Greek the masculine ekeinos in Jn.16:13. The Holy Spirit is presented as a personal being with a self-identity different from both the Father, and the Son. As the Father and Jesus make this distinction when speaking of Him. He the Holy Spirit says "Separate Barnabas and Saul to me;" He also is identified as "I" in Acts 13:2.

Jesus is called the Son of Man because He is made of Man.

I believe in one God, not three.

I think maybe Jesus called himself Son of Man because he put himself completely at the mercy of man while he walked the earth.

He is the Son created out of man...flesh. He wasn't at man's mercy. He is the God of all mercy.

I don’t what you mean when you say he was created out of man. He did seem to put himself at our mercy—he did not resist his crucifixion, did he?

Jesus was made out of man--out of flesh. There fore He is the Son of man!

Jesus didn't resist crucifixion because He chose to lay down His life. He knew and depended upon the fact that man would have no mercy toward Him.

Jesus had a body of flesh and blood. I don’t understand the “made of man†part.

Jesus knew what would happen to him but did not resist.

You don't believe he was created out of what man is created of? Son of Man means just that.

What Scripture?

Through the entire body of scripture. You said you didn't know why He was called that, so I am helping you understand that it means He was a human being as well as God.

If you want to dispute it, I suggest you pray about it and ask the Holy Spirit to tell you, too.

Check out this: What does it mean that Jesus is the Son of Man?

Excerpt:
Jesus is referred to as the “Son of Man” 88 times in the New Testament. A first meaning of the phrase “Son of Man” is as a reference to the prophecy of Daniel 7:13-14, “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven.

God is One Person comprised of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit.
Dear Alabaster, "God is NOT One Person comprised of the the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit". GOD is One God, consisting of Three Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Three Persons in One God(head).
The idea that God is One Person in three modes is an ancient heresy called Sabellianism, of the heretic Sabellius. For more information, See GOOGLE under Sabellius and Sabellianism. God bless you, Alabaster. In Erie PA Scott R. Harrington

What has changed, from God's point of view (since Peter says God provides for the blessing in the given situation) that Christians TODAY are not being blessed when they heroically witness to God in their lives while being persecuted??? Is God now a respecter of persons from the first century, whle refusing a blessing to people undergoing the same trials now? Just as the OT Scriptures were written for the ancient Christians, so, too, were the NT Scritpures written for us. That is why they are revered by the Church and not just some dusty old historical records from 2000 years ago.

Regards

You missed the point I did a pour job of communicating. My point was that thescriptures tell us these people (in this case 1st century saints) already had the spirit and were therefore able to endure and even rejoice in their persecutions. Their being persecuted was NOT proof that they had the spirit according to this text. Them having the spirit would allow them to overcome their situation.
