Oh...so you WERE speaking about John the Baptist then? (in your previous post).
So you're saying I must do John's baptism to be forgiven of sins?
When we are baptized,,,is it not in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit?
And didn't John say Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit? (with Fire).
If you read the following, you'll see that we receive the Holy Spirit even before baptism.....
Acts 10:42-48
42“And He ordered us to preach to the people, and solemnly to testify that this is the One who has been appointed by God as Judge of the living and the dead.
43“Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”
44While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message.
45All the circumcised believers who came with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.
46For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then Peter answered,
47“Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we did, can he?”
48And he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay on for a few days.
From the above we can learn:
1. Everyone who believes in Jesus receives the forgiveness of sins.
2. We receive the Holy Spirit upon believing.
3. Once we are saved we have the Holy Spirit.
4. Then we are baptized and are welcomed into the family of God and we show our fellowship.
