Who am I? (Bible characters riddles)

You're right. I didn't think it was supposed to be easy. :D

1. I had not, I received, I lost, I received back.

2. What I received, I was promised.

The nation of Israel?

I'm smelling a discussion on paronomasia regarding the names "Abram" and "Abraham".
Here's an article of interest: THE MEANING OF ABRAM AND ABRAHAM GENESIS 17:5

But if not this specifically (and on second thought, I doubt that it would be) - perhaps the mystery better explored by consideration of plural names as in (Bible characters riddles) -- riddles that focus on multiple characters? Just throwing it out there...

Nope, revising my guess: Ruth

Passing on a link to tools that may help ---> Behind the Name, the etymology and history of first names, although it didn't help me (yet) for this particular puzzle.
