Why wasn't Jesus eternally tormented?

Does everyone undertand that your soul and spirit are connected to your brain and heart?

Does everyone undertand that your soul and spirit are connected to your brain and heart?
And you know this how, exactly?

Free, come on man. this is absolutley ridiculous. As Christians, you guys should know better.
What's more important, that we know the interconnectedness of the soul and mind.. or that we treat each other with the love and respect due to fellow brothers in Christ?

How would i know how to treat people if my soul and spirit isn't connected to my brain and heart?

I suppose people will come up with all kinds of excuses for dismissing the clear commands of God....

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10(NASB)

This is not a game...

You might wanna pass that on to Drew. Blessings.

Why, he will be accountable for his action here, as I will be... just as you will be.

For if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself. But each one must examine his own work, and then he will have reason for boasting in regard to himself alone, and not in regard to another. For each one will bear his own load. Galatians 6:4-6(NASB)

.... Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. Galatians 6:7(NASB)

Because Drew doesn't believe our spirit and soul will exist in the afterlife. No soul and spirit, no eternal life, no punishment.

Ok, so my soul and spirit are not connected to my brain. Good to know guys.
You continue to ascribe your conceptualization of the world to others. Not surprisingly, when you do this, an inconsistent worldview results.

I am not sure how to convince you of what seems obvious to me: You understand the concepts "soul" and "spirit" as denoting something different from the denotation I ascribe to for these terms.

I do not believe there is anything I have posted so far that leads to a worldview that is either (1) internallly inconsistent; (2) inconsistent with the facts of the world.

Well, you don't believe our spirit and soul can function outside of our body. What do you think happens to our old body and new body after we die? Where does our spirit and soul go?

Hmm, would you say that the way that they interact is not that they are 3 separate parts of a body, as in they can be separated and still exist/be alive. That they all three together comprise the whole of a person, that the person isn't truly the person without all three present, therefore there is no consciousness between the first death and the resurrection?
Almost. I do not believe the term "soul" is a "part" of the human person in any sense at all. I believe it is a descriptive term. So that leaves "spirit" and "body". I would say that with respect to these two, you have indeed correctly understood my view: the spirit and the body togther "make the person", and neither one, by itself would be "alive" in any of the senses we ascribe to the concept of being alive. Therefore, I would modify one of your statements as follows: "....without both spirit and body present, therefore there is no consciousness between the first death and the resurrection?"

Here is a metaphor that might help: if we see the body as "hardware" and the spirit as software, you get nothing at all (of use) until you put the two together.

I would that if take "soul" out of the discussion, you have accurately represented the view I hold.

I will add that I am by no means 100% confident that this view is Biblical. But, it is my present working model.

Grappler I already did, but nobody wants to read it. it's too much work, it's too lengthy..
http://www.contendingforthefaith.org/responses/bible-answer-man/appendix/are-soul-spirit-same.html
It is indeed lengthy. If you really have read the arguments in that lengthy post, why can't you present them yourself? When you refuse to do so, and simply point us to someone else's ideas, it gives the reader the impression that you really do not "understand" the view you hold and are forced to find someone else who can explain it.

I agree. It is my opinion that some posters, when "backed into a corner" in terms of the way the actual debate is going, turn to insulting language to get the thread closed, thereby escaping from the understandably awkward position of not being able to defend the position they hold. I am not necessarily saying this has happened yet in this thread, but I, like DI, would like it not to happen.

This statement entirely misrepresents my position. You continue to insist that words like "soul" and "spirit" mean precisely what you believe they do.

Well, that is simply not a legitimate way to proceed.

Question for Drew, where did Jesus go when he died?

Where does our spirit and soul go?
I do not know how to deal with this question. I could not have been more clear, at least in respect to the soul: I do not believe the "soul" is a THING!!!

Asking me where my soul goes is like asking me where my character or my personality go when I die.

These are not "things", they are descriptions.

Question for Drew, where did Jesus go when he died?
I will consider answering this question, but only if you acknowledge that I believe the following:

1. The "soul is not a thing";
2. The spirit does not have consciousness in the absence of a body.

I am not asking you to accept this. I am asking you to accept that I believe it.

Until you take me seriously about what I believe, I am not sure there is value in continuing.
