Born Again?

Do you know one must have, in order that what he has, will not be taken from him?

To know the answer, you must read the context and be guided to understand.

Ummmm
Flat reading would indicate this. Nothing more.
However,
Your grammar does need attention. You forgot a pronoun while you were typing.

And whether you wish to concede it or not...flat reading is science.

And while we're at it...since we are playing 20 questions...

Answer these questions:
Since no musical instruments are used in the new testament for worship why should we?
Since no women were ever recorded as being baptized why are women today being baptized?
Since the absolute absence of God is considered to be hell and yet God is also considered to be omnipresent how can the two be true at the same time?

Surely the Holy Spirit can give you these answers...either that or you will use the same system that claims birth is baptism.

i would like to commend those in charge of this thread allowing it to go 21 pages . maybe it will go 25 pages

Thank you very much.
your very welcome <sarcasm> you put the thumb down on anything closely related to osas..i agree but then this post has generated more spec and beam removal . you pointed out where JLB left various things out .as per writing

.i could give my opinion .but it would get a by by remark.. but by all means keep on showing who is right who is wrong.. from reading your post/rebuke at the top of the page..your pretty good at sarcasm your self :oops

Okay.

Let’s tey it again, with the word I left out.

And the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”
He answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given. For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him. Matthew 13:10-12

  • For whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

Do you know what one must have, in order that what he has, will not be taken from him?

“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with a water, but in a few days you will be baptized with b the Holy Spirit.”

the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

The Fathers Promise

“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.”

Before baptized with water God pours out His Spirit on gentiles -Cornelius's group
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. 45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. 46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.
I believe every time has been the last days...or, at least persons of that age thought they were.

Could you explain what it means to be baptized with the Holy Spirit? Do we receivethe Holy Spirit when we're water baptized or at the born again experience......when?

But lots of people claim the Holy Spirit. Me included - I know Jesus and He knows me well and has answered me on occasion. I believe in Him.
I not opposed to reasonable reason with supporting scripture. However there is opinion of one on these boards who teaches a first century rapture of the Jews because of their take on "this generation will not see death until all these things take place." You also have many believing in a pretrib rapture. I don't. Just a few examples. I didn't think born again was a obscure meaning. 200+ replies.

I'm not saying don't believe the Holy Spirit helps us to understand.

As to Jesus speaking to you....that's nice. He used to speak to me too,,,,not so much anymore. But I think what He tells us is for us and no one else.

Otherwise we have those persons who think the rapture happened already. So, what happened to the 1,000 years?
Guess God forgot to check back.

I don't know anybody but quacks who would teach this...
Better to stick to solid biblical truths...this is what happens when some person tries to advance a theory that make sno sense to anyone,,,except others like-minded.

Do we receivethe Holy Spirit when we're water baptized or at the born again experience......when?
moment of spiritual conception why would Jesus say Born of the Spirit . water baptism follows salvation .it does not save us

That’s a good question.

Some don’t rely on the Spirit.

Others prefer to study what man has taught rather than studying the scriptures in His presence.

Just my two cents.

What's wrong with man teaching?
You're a man.

It's good to learn from a man.
The problem is that some misunderstand the scriptures and start a whole new congregation because of charisma or something.

Like those in Randy's post. How could anybody think Jesus came back in 70AD??

Some common sense would be helpful.

personally i take this thread as taking away from the word.if born again is error what is error ..talk about a controversially thread. it sure turned into that much like osas threads
Whatever Born Again meant back in Jesus' day....

WE STILL have to be born again the way it's understood today.
A rose by any other name......

That even the apostles at that time didn't understand what rising from the dead meant.
Yes. They didn't understand what Jesus was saying when He spoke about how he'd have to die and be raised again.
I also don't believe they fully understood till after they saw Jesus alive.

Whatever Born Again meant back in Jesus' day....
its very clear as you read all the way through john 3 ..this is what is so wrong with this post whatever it meant so maybe we should take john 3 and cut it out of our Bible.. i have listened to Lutheran teaching and even they do not question the new birth in john 3

WE STILL have to be born again the way it's understood today.
its understood the same way as jesus day .remember
Hebrews 13:8

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

if you dont understand you may not be saved :eek2

Your last sentence....
Are you saying that persons that don't read the bible or understand it cannot be saved??

As to your first paragraph....you either get it or you don't.
Simple as that.

And...

I'm going to give one and only one warning.

No more attacking or arguing or backhanded insinuations.

What's wrong with man teaching?
You're a man.

If people are teaching from the word of God then nothing.

It’s when people are teaching man’s doctrine or commentary that goes against the scriptures that we have a problem.

Like the many pastors who teach Calvinism.

Not exactly sure what you are saying here...

I asked you a question from the scriptures.

I corrected my grammar this time.

Here’s the question and the scripture I used.

The answer is in the context.

To know the answer, you must read the context and be guided to understand.
