Is Salvation really a "free Gift" of God?

Made available ? No I dont agree with that because no scripture says that. You are using unscriptural terms. Christ gives Eternal life to those the Father gave Him Jn 17:2

2 as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Amen, Jesus certainly has authority to give eternal life.

  • As we have seen also in John, the reason He gives eternal life is they believed.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Their believing resulted in following Him.

Eternal life is knowing Him, being joined to Him as one spirit with Him; IOW, being “in Christ.”

Jesus had just explained this in John 15 —

“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:1-6

Those who are in Christ have been given eternal life, because they are in fact “in Christ”.

However, we must remain “in Christ” if we are to continue to have the eternal life that flows from Him.

  • If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.

Which brings us to Judas Iscariot.

Judas Iscariot was given eternal life because he was one of disciples the Father gave to Jesus.

Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You, as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
While I was with them in the world, I kept them in Your name... Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
John 17:1-3,13

Once we become His sheep, we must continue to follow and obey Him, or we may become lost.

This is plainly understood in the parable of the lost sheep and prodigal son.

I dont think you really understand the word convey. It doesnt mean offer, here is the definition of the word:

to carry, bring, or take from one place to another; transport; bear.
to communicate; impart; make known:to convey a wish.
to lead or conduct, as a channel or medium; transmit.

One of the ways God gives Eternal Life is to impart it in and y the New Birth. When Christ quickens a dead sinner He gives them Eternal Life. He is called a quickening Spirit or life giving Spirit 1 Cor 15:45

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

That Life which He quickens with is Eternal Life, and its Spiritual Life.

If you don’t believe that eternal life is offered to the world as a gift, that whosoever believes in Him should receive eternal life, then tell us how we receive eternal life from God?

My position is clear, we receive eternal life by believing.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Believing that results in obeying.

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36

JLB

Again you use terms not in scripture. Show me where it says Salvation is a gift offered. Eternal Life is a Gift given by God. Just like sin gave death, the Gift of God gives eternal life Rom 6:23
23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

He doesnt give the Gift of eternal life to all without exception, but as to many as the Father gives Him Jn 17:2

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Notice the word give not offer !

Jn 10:28

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Give not offer

Jn 6 33

For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Give not offer

1 Jn 5 11

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Given not offered !

Here is what verse 11 is contextually built upon —

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and whoever loves the Father loves the child born of Him.
John 5:1

He gives eternal life to those who believe.

He gives eternal life to those who obey.

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. Hebrews 5:9

Convey -

1a: to bear from one place to anotherespecially : to move in a continuous stream or mass
b: to impart or communicate by statement, suggestion, gesture, or appearance struggling to convey his feelings
c: to transfer or deliver (something, such as property) to another especially by a sealed writing
d: to cause to pass from one place or person to another convey a message

It simply means to give.

If we convey or give a gift to someone, it is transferred or given from us to them.

Here is the biblical order of how a person becomes saved.

  • if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

  • How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed?
  • And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?
  • And how shall they hear without a preacher?
  • And how shall they preach unless they are sent?

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:
“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,
Who bring glad tidings of good things!”
But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “LORD, who has believed our report?” So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:10-17

Like I explained,
I see the principle of how a gift is conveyed from one person to another?

The gift is offered from the party who is giving the gift, to the party that the giver intends the gift to be given?

How do you believe a gift is given from one party to the other?

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

  • The gift of eternal life is offered to “whoever” believes.

I also don’t see the word “gift” in this passage either.

Do you believe eternal life is a gift?

How else does a gift get conveyed from one party to another if not offered as a gift.

So, I have answered and explained how I see the principle of how we come to receive the gift of eternal life from God.

Please explain how you believe we receive the gift of eternal life from God, if not by believing the Gospel.

No scripture says eternal life is offered to the world as a Gift. Thats your imagination. Eternal Life is given as a Gift. Jn 17:2

: 2 as thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

Eternal life is given to the heirs of promise, promised to them before the world began Titus 1:1-2

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; 2 in hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

Heb 1:14

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Heb 6:17

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

Yes I agree, God promised before time began, however that word of promise has been manifested through the preaching of the Gospel.

Those who believe are given eternal life.

Here is what our statement of faith declares about this:

We support the biblical teaching that all people are born with inherited sin and are lost eternally. They can be saved through repentance, forgiveness and faith in Jesus Christ's death (atonement) and resurrection. No human merit or performance earns salvation. For children and the mentally challenged, they are covered by Jesus’ teaching, 'The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them" (Matt 19:14 NIRV). Furthermore, We believe children and those with mental incapabilities who have no knowledge of good and evil, being innocent in the eyes of God, will be with Him if they should die in this state. (Deuteronomy 1:39) Those who have not heard the gospel, 'have no excuse’ before God because they have not pursued the evidence for God in creation (Rom 1:18—24a NIRV).

Again, here is the process involved in a person receiving salvation by hearing and believing the Gospel.

Acts 13:48 is no different unless you take this verse out of context and try to make it mean something that it doesn’t mean.

Here is how the process of bringing eternal life to that region began.

The context of Acts 13:48: The Process —

Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. Acts 13:1-3

Paul and Barnabas are separated for the work of bringing the Gospel to a region that is ready to receive it, and being led by the Spirit they were sent out.

  • After confronting the sorcerer who tried to hinder their efforts at bringing the Gospel to the Proconsul, Sergius Paulus...

Now when they had gone through the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.”
And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord. Acts 13:6-12

They departed and arrived in Antioch in Pisidia, where they first went to the Synagogue to bring the Gospel.

Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen: Acts 13:16

And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. Acts 16:32

Then the Jews reject the message of the Gospel in which Paul and Barnabus turn to the Gentiles to bring them the Gospel.

So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. Acts 13:52-46

So now we come to the verse you quoted, to see that the Gospel was being preached and people believed and were saved.

For so the Lord has commanded us:
I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.
And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. Acts 13:47-49

The Gospel was preached to these Gentiles and they received eternal life because they believed.

Verse 48 was the result of the Holy Spirit separating Paul and Barnabas, and sending them out to preach the Gospel to that region.

  • And how shall they preach unless they are sent?
  • And how shall they hear without a preacher?
  • And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?

Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.
Acts 13:46

  • since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

Eternal life is given because the person who heard the Gospel believed.

Absolutely wrong. Eternal Life is given because Christ was given authority over all flesh, in order to give Eternal Life to as many as the Father had given Him in Election Jn 17:2
2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.

The words "as many as " denotes a portion, not all without exception. These as many as are the only ones Christ was to give, not offer, Eternal life to.

BTW these certain as many as are the Sheep, He came that they might have life, Eternal Life. Jn 10:27-29

27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I have plainly shown you where Paul was sent to to preach the Gospel message to the region of Antioch Pisidia, in which the Gentiles received Paul’s message.

The idea of the Holy Spirit just Sovereignly choosing a person and giving them eternal life apart from them hearing and believing the Gospel message is not found in the Bible.

28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
There is no process in getting saved, no scripture says that. Theres no process in receiving eternal life, all that is works salvation.

Salvation/Eternal Life is a Free Gift of God to as many as the Father hath given Jesus Christ Jn 17:2

2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
Rom 6:23

23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Its given through the Person and Work of Jesus Christ. Thats the process, His Work, His Obedience, His death, His resurrection is the process that conveys Eternal Life to as many as the Father has given Him !

No one receives eternal life apart from believing the Gospel message.

In order to believe the Gospel they must hear it.

In order to hear it, someone must preach It.

In order for someone to preach the Gospel they must be sent.

This is how the Gentiles received eternal life in Acts 13:48

For so the Lord has commanded us:
I have set you as a light to the Gentiles,
That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.
And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. Acts 13:47-49
