OSAS

Jesus received a similar talk?
Is Jesus someone other than God that he needs a talking to.
Is Jesus not God himself?
Who is Jesus to you?

I don't know. There are verses where Jesus says He and God are one. And there are verses where Jesus is distinguished from the Father. All that I can say is that I don't know. But you can't have one without the other, so on a practical approach it doesn't matter. For us the relationship with us and God and with us and Jesus overlap to being the same relationship.

So you answered your own doubt.

So OSAS is the real deal.
If you believe in Jesus and are truly filled with his Holy Spirit, then you are saved forever.
Only those who doubt their own salvation are the ones that lose it, because they never really had it.
I don't need Scripture to back it up.
What if we had no Bible?
Those who feel as I feel will know we are saved forever.
Good luck to the rest of you.

Was he working to serve his father or to just get the rewards?
His motives are noted with anger and jealousy.
When his father said "all that I have is yours", it appears the older son took that literally, ALL!

You have quite an imagination.

This poor father only seems to have lost children.

Truly a twighlight zone.

Makes perfect sense.

A salvation they never had because they have doubted it.

I don't need Scripture to back it up.

Of course not....

It’s the world according to Rollo.

John 12:47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
John 12:48 He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.
John 12:49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
John 12:50 And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Galatians 3:1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
Galatians 3:2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Galatians 3:3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

How many of us had started out in the Spirit, but became foolish seeking after worldly pleasures just to find out we became lost and broken inside and turned back to God's mercy and grace in whom there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

Only those who doubt their own salvation are the ones that lose it, because they never really had it.

Not so as I know there were many times I doubted my salvation even though I am Spiritually born again and indwelled with the Holy Spirit and I never lost my salvation. It's when we recognize the enemy that tries to plant these thoughts in our mind that we rebuke those thoughts and know for a surety that Christ will never lose one of His own as no one can pluck them out of His hands.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
John 6:38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
John 6:39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
John 6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

So OSAS is the real deal.
If you believe in Jesus and are truly filled with his Holy Spirit, then you are saved forever.

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7

His sheep who become lost....

Lost defines a person who is not saved; who needs to repent in order to be in a saved position with the Lord.

His sheep refers to someone who is saved.

If they become lost they are no longer saved.

They must repent, return to God in order to be reconciled back to Him.

OSAS is certainly a false doctrine.

You're catching on.When I got saved, it was between me and God.
No salvation message.
No altar call.
No one telling me I needed to be saved.
No Bible or Bible passages.
Just between me and God.
If you need proof of something written in the Bible, it makes me wonder what kind of relation you have with God.
Is it technical.
You need written proof or it doesn't exist.

The oldest son, though he was obedient with his works because of promised physical rewards, showed no love to his father or his brother.
I don't see salvation here.
You will know a person by their fruits.
I heard that was in the Bible somewhere.
But the older son showed no fruits of the Spirit.

Who said I need proof of something written in the Bible ?

We are discussing OSAS, a false man made doctrine.

We are discussing the scriptures, the teaching of Christ.

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

Jesus instructs is to remain in Him, or be cast into the fire and burned.

If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
John 15:6

Here is how we are instructed to remain in Christ.

Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. 1 John 3:24

If Jesus is our Lord, then we are obligated to obey Him.

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
Hebrews 5:9

That all makes perfect sense to me.
Now where does the older brother fit in with all this?

The problem with OSAS as a doctrine is that people interpret it differently and the arguments in Scripture seem to go for and against.
So stop looking at it as a doctrine and look at it as it really is.
A feeling inside you given by the Holy Spirit.

Paul said " you better not sin, you better not whine, you better not cuz I'm telling you why, Jesus Christ is coming real soon."
Now was Paul warning those that follow Christ in their hearts to a tee, or is it meant for those just hanging around for a lack of anything better to do?

I had the same experience.
I'd never read a bible or heard the good news.
Jesus just "spoke" to me one day and that was that.

I must say, however, without posting any verses, that I always intuitively knew that if
I abandoned God, I would become lost again.

Not that I've ever felt like I wanted to, but I'll bet some do - for various reasons.
Jesus mentions this in a few verses so I don't understand how it could be denied.

Must log off now...
but what about Luke 8:13? THEY BELIEVE FOR A WHILE.....

Doesn't that mean a temporary belief?
Belief in what?
THE WORD!

different levels of hearers in this case they never had any real root . so if we use this as a lose of salvation ..they never was saved to begin with

Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:12-13

Jerry, what is the requirement for salvation?

  • lest they should believe and be saved.

Those by the wayside
the seeds on the wayside have no chance as the wayside is a path that has dirt packed much like a old cow path . different levels of hearing wayside never had any roots in the rocks they never developed a solid root system those who fell in the thorns was chocked out they let the world take over those on the good ground are the receptive hearers i prefer mark .i preached this last sunday night i am not going into the requirements of salvation . the jailer figured that out
