Self Righteousness

The last thing you want is for the world to approve your works. You go on cancer walks to be seen by men. You go to funerals to be seen by men. You mourn the dead to be seen by men.

Why do you mourn the dead? Haven't you learned anything?
John 11:26Revised Standard Version (RSV)
26 and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

The Holy Spirit is not a "IT" and Blaspheme in the Greek means to rally against, to take position against in a active manner, speaking against. So, you must believe that those who do not rally against the Holy Spirit are also saved, though they don't believe on Jesus or even care to look at any religion. Jesus gave an example of what Blaspheme against the Holy Spirit is, guess you have not read that far.

You're right. I didn't mean to refer to the Holy Spirit as an "it". The Holy Spirit is a person. My apologies.
As for everything else you're saying... I'm not too sure if you've noticed, but you and I are agreeing (somewhat). To rally against the Holy Spirit is to mock, ridicule and disrespect His testimony of Jesus Christ. This is the heart of disbelief, wouldn't you say?

The works we do we do to God. They are not of our self but of God. A self righteous person does his work out in the open to be seen by men.

I think you are describing a hypocrite.
A self righteous person is someone who is trying to save themselves by works while arguing that anything else is "dead faith".
They have fallen from Grace, they dont accept that its Christ alone that God accepts on their behalf and never their works for "salvation", and are become what Paul is describing in Galatians Chapters 1-3.

Nope. A self righteous person sees himself as good. Self righteous people can be hypocrites too.

Yes of course, someone who is slamming the Holy Spirit, I doubt would be much interested in hearing on how to be saved. Certainly that would be a bad thing to do. So I am agreeing.

Go back and look at that though. It was a bit more than just not paying attention.

Everything God does on this earth is through the Holy Spirit. His angels also play a part, and it's the Holy Spirit that reproves the World of sin.

When the women with the issue of blood for example touched the robe of Jesus, that power and anointing on him from the Holy Spirit healed her. Her faith sucked that right out of his robe, and Jesus said her faith had made her whole.

Now that power that destroy's yokes, set's people free, reproves the World of sin, comforts us. The Pharisee's said that was devil power, power that does evil, to cast out devils. This is what Jesus warned them about, because without that power, nobody gets born again through the Spirit of God, nobody gets devils cast out, nobody gets healed, devil power don't comfort us and show us things to come.

Now when people say that God made them sick, or God caused that crash to draw them closer to him. What power are they saying did that to them? What do they say about the Holy Spirit? The Kingdom are not divided Jesus said, it was the thief that came to kill, steal and destroy.

Hearing a Pastor one time at a funeral saying, "God took this child home early for the evil to come that God saw." What power would God have had to use to murder a child? Why is God so clueless as not to come up with a better plan to protect the child from evil to come?

One would have to believe that the Kingdoms are actually divided and God is using the devil against his own children, or you have to believe the Holy Spirit at times is a devil. Either way, it's wrong belief.

Think about this.

Be blessed.

Well, the Pharisees were these "religious types" who like to make long prayers in the streets in public, and who resented Jesus, as the people listened to him, and the Pharisees resented this, very much.
Jesus referred to them as hypocrites.
And yes, a SR person would want to evaluate you based on their behavior, when in fact God is evaluating us (believers) based on Jesus's sacrifice.
They dont understand this, and that is why they are constantly trying to earn something, keep something,..... worry about "works", or try to bother other Christian's with a false reading of Hebrews or James.

Because they were doing what they told people not to do. The definition of hypocrisy. But hypocrisy isn't the subject of this thread.

But hypocrisy isn't the subject of this thread.

And neither is telling me that "hypocrisy" isn't the subject of this Thread,:)

So, as i was saying.

What damns a person is trying to make themselves "right" with God.
We can't make ourselves right with God, and we of our own accord cant keep ourselves right with God once we are saved.
So, a person who is trusting in works or anything other then what God has provided for righteousness, is ither not saved, or they are "fallen from Grace".... Galatians Ch 1-3.

Tested and refined, I understand. I don't understand evaluating. Do you want to be evaluated by God? I don't think you do. It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Heb.10:31

Didn't Jesus tell us to follow him? Think of the Israelites who followed the pillar of cloud and of fire in the desert. Jesus told us to keep his commandments. For example, love God, do unto others, don't judge. These things are doings or work. Of course it is God working in us who makes us believe and do his work. For the kingdom belongs to God. It is his doing, not our doing.

Test the spirit to see if it is of God. 1 John 4:1

I have been twice evaluated by God.
Once before i received Christ i was evaluated as not acceptable, then....subsequent to my Salvation, i have been reevaluated as redeemed as Christ's very righteousness, and "that not of yourself".

How about you?

No. You haven't. I am referring to the Day of Judgment which is yet to come.

I wonder is anyone else it seeing it, the way I see it? Not that without Christ we are righteous, but when we are connected to God through the Holy Spirit we "are" righteous.........and that would be self-righteous? I don't want to blaspheme the Holy Spirit in myself.

Yes, you've been given the "righteousness of Christ, otherwise God would not be able to accept you.
>Salvation<
And the good news is, you dont earn it, ....its a "gift of righteousness".
