Self Righteousness

When He returns.

When he returns to rapture the Church?
When he returns to sit on the throne of David in Jerusalem?

Which judgment are you talking about?
There is more then one.
Can you be specific?

You've been made the righteousness of Christ.
You are a "new creation", "born again".
redeemed.

Not everyone who hears and believes is born again. People believe all kinds of things, mostly what they want to believe.

Not everyone who hears and believes is born again.

Hummmm., what you said is very interesting.

That would make a really interesting Thread.
You should write it and attempt to prove it with the New Testament.

The works we do we do to God. They are not of our self but of God. A self righteous person does his work out in the open to be seen by men. He looks for the approval of men. Pats himself on the back. Goes to church on Sunday. Cuts the grass. Washes the car. Celebrates the holidays. Puts up the lights and the Christmas tree. Seems right. But we know God works in secret and we work in secret. Mt. 6:1-7 Do not be conformed to the world or seek the approval of men. Do your work in secret and God will reward you.
Lord Jesus says, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:16 NKJV

Faith without works is dead! Living by faith is doing a work. Living by faith brings Heaven to you! Faith is what pleases God!

So, if you you take a day off does this mean you are no longer saved?

Yes of course, someone who is slamming the Holy Spirit, I doubt would be much interested in hearing on how to be saved. Certainly that would be a bad thing to do. So I am agreeing.

Go back and look at that though. It was a bit more than just not paying attention.

Everything God does on this earth is through the Holy Spirit. His angels also play a part, and it's the Holy Spirit that reproves the World of sin.

When the women with the issue of blood for example touched the robe of Jesus, that power and anointing on him from the Holy Spirit healed her. Her faith sucked that right out of his robe, and Jesus said her faith had made her whole.

Now that power that destroy's yokes, set's people free, reproves the World of sin, comforts us. The Pharisee's said that was devil power, power that does evil, to cast out devils. This is what Jesus warned them about, because without that power, nobody gets born again through the Spirit of God, nobody gets devils cast out, nobody gets healed, devil power don't comfort us and show us things to come.

Now when people say that God made them sick, or God caused that crash to draw them closer to him. What power are they saying did that to them? What do they say about the Holy Spirit? The Kingdom are not divided Jesus said, it was the thief that came to kill, steal and destroy.

Hearing a Pastor one time at a funeral saying, "God took this child home early for the evil to come that God saw." What power would God have had to use to murder a child? Why is God so clueless as not to come up with a better plan to protect the child from evil to come?

One would have to believe that the Kingdoms are actually divided and God is using the devil against his own children, or you have to believe the Holy Spirit at times is a devil. Either way, it's wrong belief.

Think about this.

Be blessed.
I'm not too sure what you're arguing about now. We both believe that disbelief is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

So, if you you take a day off does this mean you are no longer saved?
The path of the righteous gets brighter and brighter every day...God is faithful when we are faithless...He will never disown His Son.The scripture says it like this, "When darkness overtakes the godly, light will come bursting in." Psalm 112:4 NLT

Back to the topic of "Self Righteousness".

That's right. I'm certainly not hiding what I know. This is the light that shines before men. I agree faith without works is dead. So I have been saying, love God, do unto others, follow Jesus, keep his commandments.
Romans 12:3
For by the grace given to me I bid every one among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith which God has assigned him.

I don't know what living by faith means. We were born with the measure of faith God assigned us and when hearing met faith we came to believe. This was all God's doing. I don't know about living by faith bringing Heaven to you.

Well, your conclusion assumes that the person who has unbelief eventually believes.
Where did I ever indicate, or assume that? Essentially, you are accusing me of having a position of universalism. I totally reject universalism.

Sure, at that point they are forgiven
.
No, Scripture says that ONLY the Redeemed are forgiven.

However, what if that person always disbelieves?
Then the person gets his just reward for acknowledging the evidence of Jesus Christ, which are manifest in nature. hERE IS YOUR AANSWER FROM sCRIPTURE:

Romans 1: 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse

Are they forgiven? That's the point. The Holy Spirit cannot forgive you while you're in disbelief.
Holy Spirit cannot forgive anything; that is the sole prerogative of God the Father, and He proclaims us forgiven or unforgiven based upon our faith, which like in the case of Abram justifies us.

Romans 4:1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.

Now, what if a person once believed and then decided to not believe?
Respectfully, I do not answer hypothetical questions because they represent, by definition a condition that is both contrary to fact, and contrary to what is revealed in Scripture.

Well, at that point, they're only grieving the Holy Spirit, however, they are sealed.
ONLY???
I hope that you are not considering the only unforgivable sin to be trivial.

If Jesus were to appear before them, because they've once believed, they'll instantly be able to identify him.
Respectfully, I do not answer hypothetical questions because they represent, by definition a condition that is both contrary to fact, and contrary to what is revealed in Scripture.

Even at that stage, Jesus would have changed their heart, so they would be open to what they're seeing
Respectfully, I do not answer hypothetical questions because they represent, by definition a condition that is both contrary to fact, and contrary to what is revealed in Scripture. However, here is an accurate description of something exactly as you suggest:

Luke 16: 23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.
25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.
26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence
27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.
29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.
30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.
31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

(There are a lot of NDEs that display this phenomenon). However, a person who has never believed in Jesus would have a hardened heart. They simply would not accept Jesus. Some, in fact, would be sad at the fact that God exists! Even the bible says this on Matthew 24:30.
Near Death Experiences (NDE) are not mentioned in the Bible, and are relatively a new phenomenon since Kubler-Ross wrote her book On Death and Dying.

For a time filler while I was going on a long journey, I purchased a book on that subject. the blurbs ib the back cov3er proclaimed it to be an excellent book. the trouble in that book is that that the author was spouting off Mormon theology, and claiming that "Heaven was like Mormon theology". My point in posting that is NOT to put their theology down, (which is abhorrent IMO) but to state that if they were genuine in any way, two things would happen by necessity:

1) They would all point to Jesus Christ as the only Savior of humanity.
2) They would all have a unity of purpose and events, they don't, and they contradict each other.
3) absolutely NONE of them point to Jesus Christ an the Lord of Lords, king of kings, and returning soon to earth to judge all humanity, dead or alive.
.
I am hoping that you can see and understand why I say things as I do.

Holy Spirit cannot forgive anything; that is the sole prerogative of God the Father, and He proclaims us forgiven or unforgiven based upon our faith, which like in the case of Abram justifies us.

Exactly. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Romans 3:21-28.

Yes, thats what the Muslims believe.
They named the God of Abraham, "Allah"
So can you be more specific about yours?

Do Muslims believe in the God of Israel? I don't think so. Remember what I said. People believe what they want to believe. In this case they have gone after a false prophet.

Do I need to say I believe in the God who sent his Son Jesus Christ? I believe in our Father, the true God. My God and your God and in his Son Jesus Christ.

I'm not too sure what you're arguing about now. We both believe that disbelief is blaspheming the Holy Spirit.

No, not arguing. Breaking down the context by Which Jesus used the term. Anyway.

Yes, thats what the Muslims believe.

The God of Abraham had a son named Jesus. Allah has no son.

Now someone might hand me 1,000 dollar and tell me to give it to Kidron. A strange name for sure to name someone. They also tell me I can find this Kidron at the park at exactly 2:pm playing with their son and daughter. So, Look for a guy with a boy and girl named Kidron.

So, at 2:pm, I am at the park and I see a guy that I heard someone call Kidron. I walk up and ask if his name is Kidron and he says yes. What are the chances there could be two people named Kidron even in the same state. So I ask if he has two kids, and he says, "No, I never had children." I, being impatient hand this Kidron the 1,000 dollars. How can there be two people named that?

As I was leaving I noticed a guy people were waving to and saying "Hi Kidron" A boy and a girl close by him calling him dad.

A mistake like that may have cost one of the Kidron's a 1,000 bucks, but at least it did not cost anyone eternal life.

The God of Abraham had a son named Jesus. Allah has no son.

.

Yes, the Qu'ran teaches that Jesus is a "messenger" of Allah.
It also teaches that drinking camel urine is healthy and that the "angel" who dictated-gave the Qu'ran to Mohammed has 600 wings and is the same one that spoke to Mary about her pregnancy.

Ive been trying to figure out where you would put those 600 wings,.... but on the other hand.... as all Angels are male in "form" with no wings, i guess we have a final answer.
(sorry allah).

Faith without works is dead! Living by faith is doing a work.

Guess I got confused when you said living by faith is doing a work. I understand we live by faith, but I don't know if I would call it work. Is living work? You could say the life we have been given is the work of God. But is living work?

Listen folks, each one of us has a job to do. I can't say where or when we will be called upon to do a work but everything we do is furthering the kingdom. Of course people can see good works. Even writing a good post is a good work. There's a reason God gave us faith and that is to call us to eternal life and to do good works according to his will.

Preaching the gospel, feeding and clothing the poor, ministering to the sick, visiting widows and orphans, visiting the prisoners in prison.

So, for example, I can say I have faith, but if I do not write a post as the Spirit directs me, then I'm not doing my job. So faith apart from works is dead. James 2:26
