The Reception of the Holy Spirit

Don't see anybody being destroyed that was poured instead of dipped.

Man deserves hell, but has given you a way out.

Maybe we should be immersed, but I think I said that He's a very understanding God.

Perhaps you don't agree.
Perhaps you're a full-fledged Pharisee.
You don't see anyone being destroyed because it happens to them at their death. If you're not baptized you're not saved and if you're not saved you're lost and doomed to hell.

And baptism is not an option. So it's not a matter "perhaps", but the choice is yours to make: have water poured on you or be baptized. Being poured on gets you eternal damnation, being baptized places you in the body of Christ.

And no, I'm not a Pharisee, but rather just someone that tries to adhere to the strict word of God. God makes no exceptions and is intolerant of those that disobey. A cursory reading of the OT will clearly point that out.

Thanks for the warning.
It's no wonder some make fun of Christians.

And I did not say we shouldn't be baptized.

I cannot agree, as it was a few weeks from hearing and believing before I received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

As I mentioned, Cornelius was a one time event to show the Jews that God had also accepted the Gentiles.

I cannot agree as there is nothing written of such an event.

That I can agree with.
Water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins is a different event than the reception of the gift of the Holy Ghost/baptism of the Holy Spirit.

John's baptism unto repentance was..."To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins," (Luke 1:77)

How do you "know that"?
There are many things you and I do not agree with like many of us that do not agree with each other, but it doesn't make one right and the other wrong, but that we need to study deeper always seeking after truth and that is what the Holy Spirit does is teach us all truths. We might not see it right away, but then the Holy Spirit will bring us correction by working through others that have more Spiritual knowledge then we do as they shed a light of understanding we never saw before.

I know, everyone says they are taught by the Holy Spirit, but we can clearly see the various doctrines that are brought into these forums by whatever their church teaches them so who is right and who is wrong as the Holy Spirit is not going to teach anything different to each of us. The only way to know is to study the full context of scripture, not just one or two verses, comparing scripture with scripture, the OT against the NT and searching out the history in order to find truth.

Proverbs 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

Other words, so one man sharpens another when our ears are opened to what the Holy Spirit is teaching us and not what man is teaching us.

Doesn't it?
Either it does, or it shows both are wrong.

Agreed.
