The Victorious Christ

I am thrilled that you can count to 5!
Your insulting sarcasm has been noted. If you can't abide by the ToS, then perhaps it is time to leave the discussion.

1) I don't hace to answer your questions. By now it should be obvious that I won't. You don't control the conversation!
2) See #1, above.
Of course you don't have to answer my questions. I have never claimed to control or even tried to control the discussion. I just think, along with most people, that when people are involved in discourse, it is respectful and proper to answer questions and address counter arguments. All the more so in debate and especially among those who claim to be Christians.

Do you notice how Jesus used a lot of questions to get people to consider their own assumptions and where they were wrong? Your unwillingness to answer is not only disrespectful, it shows a very high likelihood that you know the answers to my questions prove your position to be problematic. Ultimately, doesn't it show that you aren't so much interested in the truth as in your own opinion, since a person interested in the truth will go to all lengths to get to the truth?

3) I understand perfectly the difference between the law of Moses and the other uses of “law” in the NT. You don't understand the difference between law and freedom.
4) If you are subject to external law, you are not free to do as you please. Being in Christ means you're free.
You have yet to show that you understand the different uses of law in the NT, since, as I have shown, Paul says that "the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death" (Romans 8:2, ESV).

5) I'm not interested in your interpretation of Scripture. "Freedom (within God-given bounds)" is something you've invented. One is either free or they're not. There is no such thing as partial freedom! LOL!!!
It is a biblical understanding of freedom that one comes to by proper study and simple reasoning. It cannot be otherwise. All the rules and commands that are throughout the NT prove my point. Any idea of absolute freedom is worldly.

You are denying much of the NT in order to hold on to your position.
Back to this silly game, are we?

Paul clearly writes that not every command in the Bible is from the Lord...

1 Corinthians 7:10-12, "To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her."

So, anyone who claims that the New Testament is a set of commands that are from the Lord needs to learn that isn't true. Of course, this begs the question: why, if we are led by the Spirit, do we need a set of written rules? Jesus clearly said that God would send the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. If we need a written set of rules and commands, then clearly Jesus was mistaken.

Rules are for law breakers. That is one of the fundamental statements of the Bible!

2 Corinthians 3:6, "He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenantnot of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
There it is for all to see! The new covenant -- and life itself -- is by the Holy Spirit!!!
People can erroneously claim "until the cows come home" that Christians should follow written rules and commandments, but I believe what Scripture clearly says: just the opposite, Once again: the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life."

Your insulting sarcasm has been noted. If you can't abide by the ToS, then perhaps it is time to leave the discussion.

a) You always try to control the discussion.
b) Your unwillingness to answer my argument is not only disrespectful, it shows a very high likelihood that you know the answers to my questions prove your position to be problematic. Ultimately, doesn't it show that you aren't so much interested in the truth as in your own opinion?
c) You wrote that I have yet to show that you understand the different uses of law in the NT, since, as I have shown, Paul says that "the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death". See post #202 for the clear refutation of this.
d) All the rules and commands that are throughout the NT don't prove anything. You are either guided by the Spirit or you're not. Again, see post #202.
e) Any idea of absolute freedom is worldly? Galatians 5:1a clearly shows jus the opposite: "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free".

Finally, your post includes these two statements: 1) "Your insulting sarcasm has been noted. If you can't abide by the ToS, then perhaps it is time to leave the discussion" and 2) "Back to this silly game, are we?" Are you planning to leave the discussion because of your insulting sarcasm???

Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law." QED

All,

Please notice what my signature below clearly states: that one's mind must be renewed to be able to test and approve what is God's will. There is no mention of any kind of written law here. The "law" must developed in your mind by a) reading Scripture, b) praying, and c) meditating on and following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. If anyone must depend on a written set of laws, especially those given to people who lived thousands of years ago in a society that is entirely different than the one we live in today, instead of relying on the Holy Spirit, given to us directly from God to guide us, they have missed one of the most important principles of the New Covenant.

Again, and this bears repeating, Galatians 5:22-23 says, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

Against such things there is no law!!!

The only thing that baptism is going to do for you is get you wet. Holiness is not something within us because we are all sinners, Romans 3:10. Holiness is totally and completely outside of us and is only found in Jesus Christ. Righteousness is by faith alone, Romans 4:3. And then it is to our account, reserved for us in heaven, 1 Peter 1:4.

Nicene Creed!

I acknowledge one Baptism for the remission of sins, (Ephesians 4:5; Acts 2:38 acts 22:16 1 pet 3:21)

Just wet?

How do we put on Christ?

Grace!
Union with Christ the only mediator!
And in communion with God and the saints!
Grace enables us powerfully to do God’s will!

Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christwhich strengtheneth me.

2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said unto me, My grace issufficient for thee: for my strength ismade perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Faith in Christ and his Gospel can work wonders in your life.

We put on Christ by faith in him and his Gospel.

Let’s start with a statement we can both agree with.

Jesus Christ (the truth Jn 14:6) said: you cannot enter the kingdom unless you are born again!

Jn 3:5

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Now we agree a man must be born again to enter the kingdom of God and to be in Christ the one mediator and in communion with God and His saints!

How do we become born again?

2 pet 1: 11

For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Born again by Water AND the spirit!
Baptismal regeneration in Jesus Christ!

Jn 3:22

After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.

Not with the baptism of John for repentance only but as John describes the new birth by baptism (water) and (the spirit) (and fire) the Christian sacrament of baptismal regeneration!

This is the new birth, we are born again, born from above, supernatural birth, we are in Christ a new creation by water and the spirit!

You CANNOT deny Jn 3:5 and being born again means baptismal Regeneration in Jesus Christ!
A new creation in Christ!

Not without first entering the kingdom by water and the spirit Jn 3:5 thanks
You enter the natural world by being born by "water", i.e., amniotic fluid. You enter the spiritual world by being born a second time by the Holy Spirit.

We must have union with Christ by faith and baptism.
Salvation is by faith alone because it is by Christ alone. We had nothing, absolutely nothing to do with our salvation. It took place over 2,000 years ago before we were born. We have been reconciled unto God by the doing and the dying of Jesus, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19 Sinners cannot save sinners, nor can sinners save themselves.

Nothing happens prior to hearing and believing the Gospel.

"So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" (which is the Gospel) Romans 10"17.
Yes faith and confession of faith are required but the grace is what makes us Christian new creation in Christ thru baptism
Have you put on Christ?

You enter the natural world by being born by "water", i.e., amniotic fluid. You enter the spiritual world by being born a second time by the Holy Spirit.

The Christian sacrament* of baptismal regeneration is required for the new covenant and salvation!

*this promise acts 2:38-39 is a sacred oath from God ez 36:25-27 and a sacred oath is a sacrament!

Initiation!!!

Faith & Baptism is the initiation of the new and eternal covenant!

You cannot enter on you’re own or by “faith alone”!

You cannot receive Christ or grace by “faith alone”!

“Accept Christ as you’re personal lord and savior” is fundamentalist tradition not found scripture!

Jn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

2 pet 1: 11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Baptismal regeneration a new creation in Christ! 2 Cor 5:17

A sacrament is an oath! A sacred promise from God! Ez 36:25-27
Acts 2:38-39 (this promise)

No baptism no grace!

A sacrament is an outward sign for all men including infants And a gift from God to help us see what he does inwardly and invisibly by his grace!

As grace Washes our souls in the merits of Jesus blood from original and personal sin, so the outward action of washing is visible!

without the outward action the inward action cannot take place!

Jn 3:5 Titus 3:5 water and washing
acts 22:16 wash away your sin!

Jn 3:5 Born again BY water and the spirit! Not by “faith alone”!

They did not go to Jerusalem and preach “accept Christ as you’re personal Lord and savior “

They went to the river (water) and they baptized! Jn 3:22

A covenant requires an outward sign of the inward action of grace!

Ez 36:25 I will sprinkle you with clean water and you shall be made white as snow.

Acts 22:16 washing away your sins.

Eph 4:5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism.

Baptism!

God breathed life into Adam, gen 2:7 and we received this life from our fathers!

Christ breathed on the apostles our spiritual fathers, we receive the new covenant life of God’s grace from them thru faith & baptism! Jn 20:21-23 Mk 16:16 acts 8:36-38 eph 2

Born again! Born from above!

'The Father has set his seal' on Christ (John 6:27) and also seals us in him (cf. 2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:23, 4:30). Because this seal indicates the indelible effect of the anointing with the Holy Spirit in the sacrament of Baptism,

Baptism indeed is the seal of eternal life." 87 The faithful Christian who I has "kept the seal" until the end, remaining faithful to the demands of his Baptism, will be able to depart this life "marked with the sign of faith," 88 with his baptismal faith, in expectation of the blessed vision of God - the consummation of faith - and in the hope of resurrection.

St. Paul tells the faithful at Ephesus that they have been “sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.” This is in terms of an indelible character imprinted on the soul in the sacraments of baptism and confirmation. It is not as if this invisible mark is simply decorative. Rather, through it, we are enabled to participate in Christ’s mission and in his offices of priest, prophet, and king. Eph 1:13

Sealed by God eph 1:13 sealed by God (ez 36:25-27) in the ark of salvation by baptism just as Noah was sealed by God in the ark of the flood gen 7:16

1 Pet 3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water.

21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us!
(Ark of Noah a type of the church, member of Christ and his church and salvation by baptism!)
(Outside the ark of Noah none were saved, outside the church (the ark of salvation) none are saved!)

Sealed in the ark, sealed in the church the ark of salvation by God thru baptism!

Christ instituted the holy church for the salvation of all men, (repent and believe the gospel, with the institution of the sacraments to convey grace to sanctify souls!

(Water and the spirit)

New creation by water and the spirit

Jn 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

(Water and the spirit)

Christian sacrament of baptismal regeneration is by: WATER AND THE SPIRIT!

No one is born again by:

“the spirit alone”!
Or
“Faith alone”!

Water AND the spirit is the biblical mandate!

Brought to life. Jn 14:6 eph 2:1 quickened by baptismal regeneration.
