What is The Baptism that saves us now?

"Must" is equivalent to the law!

You are a child of God when He adopts you. Period. Salvation is not by works, and never will be.

You don't earn your salvation!
So be it.
IT IS LAW...You must love God with all your being in order to be saved on the last day.

Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of heaven—only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day, many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many powerful deeds in your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Go away from me, you lawbreakers!’ "

a) You are adding your own ideas to Scripture
b) You must always keep in mind to whom the Lord is speaking. In this case, it was the Jews who, like yourself, tried to earn their salvation.
c) One receives salvation by faith, not works. Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace you are saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God; it is not from works, so that no one can boast."
That is right.
The Mosaic Law's "works" will not save anyone.
Circumcision, dietary rules, feast keeping, tithing, and sabbath keeping will help nobody.

OTOH, faith without doing good for your neighbor is dead.

So be it.
IT IS LAW...You must love God with all your being in order to be saved on the last day.
The law was a schoolmaster that led us to Christ. John 3:16, perhaps the most famous verse in the New Testament, proves you wrong...

"For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

Followed by verse 17: For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world should be saved through him.

Get it?

Your legalism is a deterrent to those who hope in Christ!

Jaybo, you've been on this forum a long time and should know me by now.
I'm not replying to the above because it's full of errors on my behalf and this is not becoming personal.

I'll just say that I do not add my own ideas to scripture.
Show me where I have in Matthew 7:23.
Thanks.

We are leaving for Firenze in 12 days. It's a pain getting ready but it will be great to see family again. I will probably take a break from the forum during our trip.

I thought you were there already.
The weather is perfect now. Hope it lasts.
Have friends here from Vegas.

Why is it a pain to get ready?
It's exciting!
Very many details: plane tickets, passports, COVID docs, people to take care of horses & dogs, prescription refills, suitable clothing, gifts to bring, electronics, etc. The trip will be great but the preparation is not.

Are your friends there from Las Vegas Nevada or Las Vegas New Mexico?

In Matthew 7 Jesus made it clear why some would be denied salvation.

They did all those wonferful works in His name....but they were lawless.
Matthew 7,23
The point being that their works didn't save them...and that their works were not just the things of the law (such as circumcision and dietary laws).

If there are three different things, then none of them is "alone".

Agreed, if one still commits iniquity/sin.
The faithful don't.

grace, faith, and Jesus Christ in my statement are in categories all their own.

So yes, one can be saved by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone.

One category being what we are saved by...

Another category being what we are saved through...

The last category being what we are saved in.

Will those who do not love God above all else receive eternal life?

People do not receive eternal life as the result of loving God above all else...

They love God above all else as the result of having received eternal life.

Nevada.
We grew up together in NYC.

You have gone from faith alone to too many "alones" to count anymore.
People do not receive eternal life as the result of loving God above all else...
They love God above all else as the result of having received eternal life.
Judgement won't happen till the last day, so I don't know if my life is eternal or not yet.
It is written..."Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:" (Ro 2:6-7)
You may want to rethink your POV.

Salvation begins at the moment of first faith according to John 5:24.

Believe what you want to believe on the other thing.

Yeah, begins.
And it will be completed on the day of judgement...for those who remain faithful.

I can only believe what is written.
Let me put it this way...everlasting life begins at the moment of first faith according to John 5:24.

And if your spiritual life ever comes to an end, it was not everlasting but temporal.
