When will my request be addressed? That is, to explain what 'resurrection of life' even means to you. I have no idea.

Explaining what something “means to me” ?

That’s ok, if we can never t agree on what the plain and clear words of Jesus are, why would my opinion matter?

Here is who will come forth at the resurrection of life -

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-28

If you don’t agree, that those who have done good, are the ones who will come forth in the resurrection of life, then please post some scriptures about the resurrection of life, that teach us, those who have done evil will come forth in the resurrection of life.

:thumbsup:cross:readbible Well said.

We are saved by grace not by works so that no one may boast they had anything to do with their own Salvation.

That fact alone could stand to refute any teaching that insists we can lose our Salvation.

Do you have any scripture that pertains to the resurrection and those who will receive eternal life on that Day, which is the Day of Judgement.

Here are those who will receive eternal life.

  • eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality;

But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.
3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who “will render to each one according to his deeds”: 7 eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; 8 but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:2-8

  • the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

Jesus said it this way.

28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice 29 and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. John 5:28-29

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,

I prefer “unrepentant” or “unbeliever” or “liar”, as more Theological (though often ellipsised out) terms.

But in-accordance-with your hardness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing-up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and the revelation of the righteous-judgment of God, ...
Romans 2:5 - https://www.biblegateway.com/passage?search=Romans 2:5&version=DLNT
...

Eternal life will be for those born again Christians who do good.

  • eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality; Romans 2:7

Christian’s who do not obey the truth but rather they obey unrighteousness will receive God’s wrath on that Day.

  • but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness—indignation and wrath, Romans 2:8

Maybe you should start an JLB ological thread about how the ones who are:
1) "disregarding the riches of His goodness" and
2) have "unrepentant hearts" and
3) are "not know that the good thing of God leads to repentance"
are 'Christians' as you (but never Paul) call them. Are you aware that repentance is required to be a Christian???

Anyway, that would be an interesting topic.

Romans 2:4-8 Disciples’ Literal New Testament (DLNT)

4 Or are you disregarding the riches of His goodness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that the good thing of God is leading you to repentance? 5 But in-accordance-with your hardness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing-up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath and the revelation of the righteous-judgment of God, 6 Who will render to each one according to his works— 7 to the ones seeking glory and honor and immortality in accordance with endurance in good work, He will render eternal life; 8 but to the ones indeed disobeying the truth and obeying unrighteousness out of selfish-interest], there will be wrath and fury.

Maybe you could also discuss in that thread how the evil present in Paul relates to his desire to do the good, all the while recognizing the power within the Good things of God's doing.

Romans 7:21 (DLNT)
So The Evil Inside Me Enslaves Me To The Law of Sin And Death In Me

21 I find then the law in me, the one wanting to do the good, that the evil is present in me.
But as it stands in this Thread, you've not even answered the question of the OP.

Well you see, it doesn't matter what I think. It matters what Jesus taught, and died to deliver to the world according to his Father's will, as an irrevocable gift of grace.
I didn't ask what you thought. I asked what you believe so that I can understand.

What I struggle with is that we need to take the whole of Scripture into consideration and there is a plethora of Scripture similar to Matthew 7:21-27, John 14:15, Matthew 19:17, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, and so on.

One can't ignore part of Scripture to satisfy one's own ideal.

Well, if it's so difficult to explain oneself, then no need to bother.

But most people who hold opinions can explain themselves.

However, Scripture is clear about eternal security.

John 10:27-29 is the best passage for learning about eternal security.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.
29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.

So, if He wasn't as clear as He could be from v.28 that those He gives eternal life shall never perish, He went on to make even more clear by saying that both He and the Father held these recipients of eternal life in their hands, which NO ONE could remove (snatch).

So, not only does Jesus provide eternal life to all believers, He gives the REASON WHY no recipient shall ever perish:

He and His Father holds them in their hands.

So once given eternal life, the recipient can never perish. Because Jesus said so.

And...whosoever tries to use Scripture to prove the opposite, that recipients of eternal life can perish, simply are trying to prove that Scripture is internally contradictory and that what Jesus said is not true.

The words "shall never perish" is the exact opposite of "may perish". Scripture says "shall never perish" once eternal life is given to them.

Do you have any scripture that pertains to the resurrection and those who will receive eternal life on that Day, which is the Day of Judgement.
Excuse me, but what Scripture says that eternal life is received "on that Day, which is the Day of Judgment"?

Instead, eternal life is POSSESSED (in the present tense, not future tense) for those who believe.
John 3:15,16,36, 5:24, 6:47, 11:25-27, 20:31, 1 Tim 1:16, 1 John 5:13.

Anyone can disagree with these Scriptures, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

Here are those who will receive eternal life.
John 3:15-16
i0 15 so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. 16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

John 5:24 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 6:40 "For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day."

John 6:47 "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life.

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord

1 Tim 1:16 Yet for this reason I found mercy, so that in me as the foremost, Jesus Christ might demonstrate His perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in Him for eternal life.

Gal 3:22 But the Scripture has shut up everyone under sin, so that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe.

1 John 5:13 - These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life.

Yep. Only those who believe have eternal life.

Does Scripture ever contradict itself?

Or, does Scripture teach 2 opposing ideas?

One can't ignore part of Scripture to satisfy one's own ideal.
Correct. So, when one part of Scripture seems to contradict any other part, should both parts be accepted as truth, or should one take the whole of Scripture, to determine WHICH part is being misunderstood?

iow, when any part of Scripture seems to teach the opposite of any other part, it's a red flag that at least one of the conflicting parts cannot be correct. Is that logical?

i certainly understand ALL of John 5. Jesus taught that those who believe possess in the present tense eternal life (v.24), and therefore, to have "done good" means to have received eternal life. It can mean no other thing.

I also understand what "the resurrection of life" means in v.28. It is a reference to the believer's final judgment for what they've done, whether good or bad, from 2 Cor 5:10.

Here is who Jesus and Paul said who would receive eternal life on that Day.

That's exactly what I was saying. It seems the answer must be somewhere where all of Scripture is satisfied. Both positions seem to be stuck on the extreme. Reminds me of Republican vs Democrat.

There are man made traditions that teach that you know. That the human has to work their way into God's good grace and find out after they're dead if they satisfied the mark in order to be rewarded with Heaven. Or, they lapsed and go to Hell instead.

I wonder how someone who teaches the antithesis of Salvation that's written in the Bible remains here unencumbered by moderation.
It is a damnable lie straight out of the pit of Hell that teaches humans work to make Jesus sacrifice mean something. That his dying on the cross and our faith does not save. It is an abomination. And that spirit that is compelled to insist on this evil lie ironically enough and satisfying enough for me at least, doesn't realize it is working hard to end up in Hell.
Bugger the rules. That in itself is enough to satisfy the outrage that evils teachers harass people of Christ.

Being spiritually renewed or made alive in Christ is to possess eternal life. Lip servers, as you put it, in both instances describes the same person. Trying to prove loss of eternal life by mans works, is to teach works based salvation and a denial of the gospel of Christ. If God doesn’t save by mans works, what makes you think mans works maintains salvation? Are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Galatians 3:3. And if so then those who hold to such nonsense believe not that eternal life rest in Christ Jesus alone

It's only those who are Spiritually renewed that are given the promise of eternal life. Lip servers are totally different than those who are Spiritually made new again as Jesus doesn't even recognize them, Matthew 7:21-23.What does anything I have said have to do with works? No one can work for their salvation as it is by Gods grace through faith that is a free gift. Do you think we would have to work for a free gift, don't think so.

Amen! I believe that what Jesus said in John 10:28 closes all discussion of the notion that salvation can be lost. He said those He gives eternal life shall never perish. Should be end of story, but somehow, many still see "conditions" within what He said about recipients of eternal life, when there are none.
Hey, remember when Yeshua said the world will hate us because they hated him first?
Satan tried to thwart Yeshua's mission on earth the whole time Yeshua was here preaching how to be saved from Satan's snares. Satan didn't give up just because Yeshua returned to Heaven when it was finished. Yeshua was resurrected from the tomb and walked the earth 40 days after and still was living proof his teaching was true.
Me, I'd have walked right into the temple and smiled at those one's that condemned me as blasphemer.
Anyway, that really had to upset Satan. Even death was overcome by God's only son.
Now, Satan knows the mission was accomplished and Salvation insured less people come to him when they die. But he's not a quitter. He's been steady trying to lead people to him from the beginning. Garden of Eden was the starting point.
He's also got apostles working on his side. They're teaching the anti-gospel.
Watch Mr.toothy-grin, Osteen sometime. I can't stand his wife. Osteen never talks about Hell. He never talks about salvation. He talks about materialism. His god pays him in exchange for belief.
It's disgusting. And he has followers that fill to the rafters a converted sports arena that is now Osteen's church.

Watch this. Ever heard the legend of the Succubus?

It's only those who are Spiritually renewed that are given the promise of eternal life. Lip servers are totally different than those who are Spiritually made new again as Jesus doesn't even recognize them....
How would you know who's who under those descriptions?

That's exactly what I was saying. It seems the answer must be somewhere where all of Scripture is satisfied. Both positions seem to be stuck on the extreme. Reminds me of Republican vs Democrat.
Well, if you're finding scripture that seems to go to the extreme on opposing points as in, works salvation, salvation under grace, maybe it is time to realize those teachings in the bible that tell us to not believe every spirit but test them.
Maybe the reason there is conflict in the actual teaching of Christ is because people back in the day interjected falsity in order to mislead those hoping to find the truth. The way it happens today in forums committed to the true teachings of Christ. There is inevitably that which wants to interject chaos and lies that finds its way to those sites.
Discernment is key.
