OSAS

God can walk and chew gum. It's both, not either/or.
His grace alone enables faith, which alone apprehends God's grace.

Why twist the discussion into making it about God’s ability ?

The discussion is about what you are promoting, not what God is able to do.

To says salvation is by faith alone, then in the next sentence you say it’s by grace alone is a total contradiction, and demonstrates that God is not promoting these statements, because God is not the Author of confusion.

Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
James 2:17

Salvation by faith alone is not found in the Bible, but is a man made concept, because the scriptures teach it is...
“by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God“.

Then we must understand that faith requires obedience.

Not the works of the law
Not good works
Not works that earn

But faith requires the corresponding action of obedience in order function.

The “work” by which Abraham was justified was the action of obedience to offer his Issac on the altar.

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? James 2:21

again

The “work” by which Abraham was justified was the action of obedience to... Get out of your country, From your family
And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
Genesis 12:1

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham. Galatians 3:8-9

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

Something else that will never be found in Scripture— “ Repent of your SINS to be Saved......”

I agree.

I never said “repent of your sins to be saved”.

Repent, not ”repent of your sins”.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

Two things Save us: #1Christ’s Blood. #2 Our Faith

Faith without the work of action of obedience is dead.

If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, you will be saved.

This is the action of obedience to the Gospel by which you are saved.

For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:10

  • with the mouth confession is made unto salvation

The work of obedience.

Faith must have the corresponding action or work of obedience or faith remains dormant and incomplete, being unable to produce the intended divine result.

“ Dead Faith” is definitely a bad thing, but it still beats “ NO” Faith......”No Faith” means He’ll. “Dead Faith” means no Rewards.....Plus one is not doing what hecwas put on this Earth for ...... “ to do Good Works and Carry the Burdens Of Others..”
A “Dead Cow” is STILL a Cow.....it just does not Produce anything good anymore, i.e. milk.....
The same way with “ Dead Faith”...... it’s still “ Faith” and it will get you saved....it is just not playing itself out like it should ...James did not like that .....either does God.....God does not like a lot of things that go on— that doesn’t mean He will damn you for it....Unbelief in Jesus is the only thing that gets a person Damned..... James refers to the Lazy Men Of Faith as “Brethern”—— That is a Saved , Born- Again Believer......God Bless....

99% of the Church World sees the Word “ Repent” and Without questioning it, they assume it means “ Stop Sinning”. That is an impossibility ( Sins Of Omission...Impure Thoughts, etc )
“ Repent” means “ to change your mind”.....God Repents more than anybody else in the Entire Bible, so we know it does not have to be coupled with Sin....If one has “ changed their Mind” about Jesus - who He was and What He accomplished for you at the Cross— , if you Have Repented from UNBELIEF in Jesus to BELIEF , you have done all the “ repenting” you ever need to do......All other types of Repentance May be Positive things, but if they do not Turn you from UNbelief in Jesus as “ God In the Flesh , The One who died for your sins and rose from the Grave , to a BELIEF in Jesus.....you will still be as Lost as an Eskimo in the Sahara .....
One can Repent Of Sins till the Cows come home ......Judas Sinned and Repented Big-Time and Turned to a Noose....Peter Repented Big-Time and Turned to God......Do I have to add that it made ALL of the difference?
One can Repent and not end up Believing— It is impossible to Believe without Repenting. That is why the Gospel Of John mentions Believing dozens Of Times , But does not mention” repentance” once......
Did I veer off-subject here? Sorry if I did.....hopefully somebody got something out of it.....lol.....God Bless...

Where is this opinion of yours found in the Bible.

But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? James 2:20-22

If Abraham decides not offer his son Issac in response to God’s command, will he be justified by his disobedience?

Do you confess your sin to God and ask Him to forgive you?

We need to be forgiven or sin, but we also need to learn from our mistakes and also learn to overcome them so we don’t keep repeating them, so we can be example to our family how to overcome.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
From Slaves of Sin to Slaves of God
What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace? Certainly not! Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness. Romans 6:12-16

Do you confess your sin to God and ask Him to forgive you?

I am “ already” forgiven .....I don’t “ have” to ask......That would be a Good Thing because I can’t remember most of my Sins anyway ......the Big Suff, Perhaps , But not the many smaller sins that I commit every hour of the day.....
The Truth is, I really don’t think about Sins all that much.....God took care of that problem 2000 years ago..... I concentrate on building up my Faith ( Acting on Promises Of God ) and do what I want to do because I have a New Heart and God has changed my “ wants”. They tend to line up with His wants now .You know - that “ Inside Of The Cup” thingy .....lol....
Commandment Keeping never did much to help my Faith, but I discovered a long time ago that if I Practiced Faith and Trusted God to take care of the behavior changes that were needed in my life , He could do a better job by TRANSFORMING me into the Image Of His Son than I could ever do by worrying about “Do Do This and Don't Do That” to gain God’s Approval......Yes, I Know it’s a cliche, but ya gotta “ Let Go and Let God”. That’s the kind of Faith God is looking for . The Bible says , “ The Just shall L I V E by Faith” ......that is how I try to live ...... “ From Faith to Faith”...... it has worked for me.....
It had been said.... “ Love God and Live as You please”... I like that Formula .....it’s probably one of those things you have to live to understand......God Bless....

Sorry....I can never resist using Homer Simpson’s stupid remark in regard to something he “ quoted” from the Bible....

My opinions are seldom found in the Bible.....we share something in common there, I would wager......People like you and I have been offering up Opinions about James for Centuries.....yours have no more value than mind.....I’m just throwing stuff out there that sounds correct to me....you are doing the same.....we can both quote Scripture to defend our different “ takes” on James
If James has a disagreement with Paul ( and they don’t , really . We just don’t understand it nor can easily explain it ) I go with Paul on Doctrine. God never said that James was “ My Chosen Vessel” and God never said that James was the “ Messager to the Gentiles” and God never said about James “ Folllow him as he follows Christ”.....
Nobody has ever explained the “differences” between Paul and James to my satisfaction —- and I have read dozens and dozens . We’ll know eventually , “ over there”. Until that day, I will lean Paul’s way if forced to choose between the two.....To interpret James as some insist.....it would cancel out many, many verses from Jesus that Paul wrote down to give to us....something is wrong with that picture .....The only thing That I Know for sure is that greater minds than ours have wrestled with the Book of James and you and I will not be settling matters about it.....let’s not get too carried away —- I know that “ I “ won’t ......

This is not an attempt to attack you....I am just curious.....what about sins you forget or what would happen If you committed a big Sin and suddenly died before you could apply 1John 1:9 ?
the apostle paul wrote Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; Philippians 2:12 to be honest with you there is NO Big sin or little sin. i am very secure in my salvation i stand by 1john 1:9 along with 1 john 1:7 . i try to focus on the Lord and i know when i sin .the Holy spirit pricks my heart .the confession is not for the Lord but for us. we humble ourselves when approaching the throne of Grace . that is my belief and there i stand.

Nobody is ever justified by “disobedience”....... just like nobody is ever Justified by “ obedience”
FAITH is what Justifies the “Ungodly”
“Abraham BELIEVED God and it was counted to him as Righteousness.....

Nobody is ever justified by “disobedience”

This is the key to understanding faith, and how the law or principle of faith operates to produce the intended divine result.

just like nobody is ever Justified by “ obedience”

Only those who are obedient are justified.

This is obvious since no one is justified by disobedience.

James 2:21-22

It was Abraham’s obedient response to offer his son Issac on the altar.

Just like it was Abraham‘s obedient respsonse to the Gospel by which he was justified, by which he established the pattern of justification for the Gentiles, when he obeyed the Lord to get out of his country to a land....

And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.” Galatians 3:8

Whether you are realizing it or not, your promoting what the Bible calls “the lie”.

The lie is what Satan told Eve in the garden.

Yes faith. Not dead faith.

Its like saying “My car is what gets me to work”.

True, “if” you obey the instructions to turn the key on, by which the car “comes alive”, and is able to function to get you to work.

Obedience is what completes faith, so it’s activated to be able to function.

That’s why it’s called the “obedience of faith”.

But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: Romans 16:26

OSAS is true for the elect. But the elect are only shown at the end.
The depth of our love of Jesus is shown by our hearts and dedication to Him. Peter talked about brotherly love, our service and personality traits. Some seem to think this is about earning ones salvation, to be conformed to the image of Christ. Love though is something fundamental to who we are, and sorting out our hearts and commitments, is critical to our future. If someone believes they are secure in Christ, they know the Kingdom of heaven, yet they can walk away, bound by sin and overwhelmed by the world, unfortunately this reality speaks the opposite.

Security in Christ is something Jesus wanted us to know, that He takes us and leads us, and blesses us more than we can ever imagine. But all this encouragement can be taken as spoken to those who do not care and are not actually interested in being like Jesus or aspiring to the Kingdom of heaven. The sad situation is the treasure of heaven is deeper than we can ever imagine, yet people of faith claim it is just a nice added extra to the wealthy, secure western lifestyle.

It would be interesting to know if there are any who are not part of the privileged minority. God bless you
