Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

If I hate my Brother..... and If hating my Brother makes me a Murderer.....and if no Murderer has Eternal Life abiding him, The Monkey is on God’s Back to see that I never “ hate my Brother”.

Actually, Jesus Christ is your Lord, and is the One who makes the rules, not you or I.

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 1 John 3:15

The Lord has given us all things that pertain to eternal life and godliness.

  • We have been given a new divine nature.
  • We have the same Holy Spirit as Jesus when He walked this earth.

What are we doing with what He gave us ?

Peter says it this way —

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

  • Here is what the Holy Spirit, through Peter asks us to do —

But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins.
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 1:2-11

So no, the “monkey” is not on anyone’s back but our own to do the things He asks of us, which is love.

God will not force you to love Him or His children.

For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 1 John 5:3

We are drawing near to the end of the age, to be soon entering the age of our great King, Who will rule all nations with a rod of iron, in righteousness and peace.

I encourage you to learn now while there is still time, to obey Jesus Christ as Lord, the One who loves you, the One who gave His Life for you, the One who dwells within us, to teach us and lead us along the difficult way that leads to life; eternal life.

  • His commandments are not burdensome.

There is not one single verse in the Bible that supports OSAS, let alone 400.

I would beg to differ.....How do explain this One? Just one. “ All Of Those That Believe in ME ALREADY HAVE Eternal Life, and Shall NEVER be Condemned.....” Get out of “ that” one, and then we will just have 399 to go....
Let's look at it BB.....
"All those that BELIEVE IN ME...... Please notice the present tense.
ALREADY HAVE eternal life........ Our eternal life begins now. IF we BELIEVE in Jesus.
and Shall NEVER be Condemned.......IF we believe in Jesus.

And, not to forget, that if we BELIEVE, we will also OBEY.
John 3:36
"He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him."

He who DOES NOT OBEY will NOT see LIFE, but the wrath of God abides on him.....

All scripture MUST be reconciled.

What reconciles your verse is the PRESENT TENSE.

Colossians 1:22-23
22yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach—
23if indeed you continue in the faith firmly established and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the gospel that you have heard,

We were good until:

PLUS NOTHING.

What does that mean in this day and age anyway?

Usually, if someone is sorry for their sin, they're probably saved. Are unsaved persons sorry for their sins? I don't think so.

I agree about remorse....this is a secular feeling.

I agree about Judas.

But what does PLUS NOTHING mean?

Did JESUS say this?
Where?

Blood Bought said:

Judas proves that one can be , “Sorry for Sins” and still be Lost......He is the Poster Boy to show that sorrow ...guilt .....remorse......and anything else you care to throw in there is NOT the type of “Repentance” that God demands for Salvation......Any type of “ repentance” that does lead to Faith in Jesus Christ is going to fall way short of Salvation—- here is what a Repentance That will lead to Salvation looks like....
Remember the Sinful Tax- Collector Who was praying in the Temple and would not even look up to Heaven as he prayed? Jesus said he went home a Saved man ( Justified) What did that guy do to get Saved? He “ Turned to God” with a Contrite Heart and pleaded, “Lord, have Mercy on me , a Sinner”. It worked for that Sinner. It also worked for “ this” Sinner....
Faith is what saves . Faith is Believing a Promise Of God. God’s Promise is this—-“ Turn to Me, and I will turn to you”......very simple......very effective....
“ Plus Nothing” comes from two Warnings. The First one comes from Jesus, using Paul as His Mouthpiece . In Galations, it is written that simply believing that Jesus died for your sins and then later rose from the dead is what a person does to be Saved.Any Addition to that Gospel Of Pure Grace is a “ False Gospel”. Those that believe in a False Gospel Of Works , no matter how Good it sounds ( church attendance, Tithing, obedience to the Law, Repenting Of all known sins before you die, doing your best, etc) will “ Fall From Grace”—- some say that equals a loss of Salvation, others say it shows you were never saved to begin with and others maintain that it just means your Christian Walk will be a Crippled one.Take your pick, I suppose.Regardless, one does not Add to the Gospel. Its the Gospel plus Nothing. One could also say Faith Plus Nothing or one could say Grace Plus Nothing , or Jesus Plus Nothing or just go with the song , “Nothing But The Blood” ......Any Of these Doctrines can be deduced from 1Cor15:1-4, which is the Gospel
The Second Warning comes from Heb3 and 4.......God Commands us to REST in the Gospel or be guilty of “ Disobedience and UNbelief”.....that means to be Assured Of your Salvation and KNOW that you are Forever Saved by the Finished Work Of The Cross ALONE.God does NOT say Trust in the Gospel PLUS anything. The Gospel Plus Nothing......
Paul says that HIS Gospel ( That’s Right— Paul’s Gospel — google it ) is what God will be asking you about come Judgement Day . Make sure God knows that you did not show “ UNbelief” by thinking that even though the Gospel was “Essential” for your Salvation , it just was not “ Adequate”. Don’t insult , or tread on the Blood Of Christ......It is VERY Adequate.God Bless ....
The above is a mess....something with the quote feature.

First of all, could we distinguish between REPENTANCE and CONTRITENESS?

REPENT:
To change one's mind and/or direction.
To stop going one way, turn around and go the other way.
When born we are serving satan....
When we repent we turn around a decide to serve God...
we literally change our direction and walk toward God.

CONTRITE:
To be sorry for.

So I agree with you that repenting will lead you to God.
Once you are with God, you may be sorry for sinning and
you feel contrite.

As to turning to God...I know what you mean but really God always makes the first move.
God has revealed Himself to man....
man replies with either a yes or a no.
God invites ALL to worship Him...but not all will reply with a Yes.

What is a gospel of works?
I believe in the gospel Jesus preached...the good news.
He said to believe in Him and we will be saved.
To believe in Him means to believe in all He taught.
If we believe in what He taught we could be His disciiples.
If we are His disciples we don't mind obeying His commandments and
His commandments are not burdensome.
1 John 5:2-3
2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and observe His commandments.
3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

By PLUS NOTHING, do you mean that we are NOT to attempt to do good deeds?
The N.T. is full of verses about doing good deeds...it seems to me that this is part of the teaching of Jesus.

Matthew 25:45-46
45“Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’
46“These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

What made the righteous go into eternal life?
The fact that they "believed" in Jesus
or
Because they did as Jesus taught? Feeding the hungry,,,clothing the poor....

Matthew 21:28
The Parable of the Two Sons

Jesus asked: Which one did the will of the Father?
Even Jesus did the will of the Father.
Certainly we must also.

And I reject wholeheartedly the notion that if I obey God and do His will, I would be showing unbelief and that it means Jesus is not adequate.

Please post some verses to support your opinion.

Could please post the chapter and verse with context?

We all need to embrace and believe God’s word, not try and
“get out of it”.

Eternal life has a condition. The condition is to believe.

Understanding what believe means is vital.

If our believing doesn’t result is doing what we believe, then we are no better off than the demons who believe.

Here are some verses that pertain to this subject of believe and eternal life.

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36

Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. Luke 8:12-13

So Jesus said to them, “Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. Matthew 19:28-29

What makes you think I don’t do these things that Peter recommends ? I have not “ added “ any of these things....it is more precise to say that “ They HAVE BEEN added”.I do nothing but what God ordered me to do in Heb3 and 4.......I REST in the Gospel of Grace .....God says if you do NOT do that, you are an “ UNBELIEVER”.....Seems like the more I “ Rest”, the more He “ does” . I let God do His Will in and Through me without my feeble input —- the results are always so much better....I just go with what works best.....maybe that is why God is so serious about “ Resting “ in His Gospel Of Grace.....I bet He knew this all along.....There are many Verses in the Bible That tell us what we should do.....There are no other ones that say if you fail to carry it out , you will be charged with UNBELIEF. He HATES that! He will damn people for it.....People do not get damned for Sinning......God’s got “ that” covered with The Blood Plus Nothing.....All denizens Of Hell will be There because of UNBELIEF ....
God has Promised me that I am “ A New Creation”.....I Believe that is True. Confused, poorly taught people that see that now they are “ New Creations”, they better get the List Of Rules and start “ Acting” like a New Creation . I am either the New Man or I ain’t.I should not have to “ Act Out” What my imagination tells me this New Man should look like .I can “ change” myself to make others Think I am a New Creation or I can have the Faith to Believe that God will actually do what He said He would do......something that only “ HE” can do.....TRANSFORM me.....that “ inside of the Cup” thing......God Bless....

Do you understand what “hears” means?

Here’s a hint; read the context.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
John 5:24-28

Hears my word results in this —

  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,

When we hear, hearken to do what we hear Him say, that results in following Him; following His teaching, following His commandments; following His example of lifestyle, to love God and love His people (doing good).

The result of hearing and following Him, being led by His Spirit, is inheriting eternal life; coming forth in the resurrection of life.

Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth—
  • those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,
  • and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

Context brother, read and study the context, and the rest of the scriptures that pertain to any given subject.

You should know that studying to show yourself approved, rightly dividing the word of truth in valves more that lifting one verse out of context and creating a doctrine around the one verse. Also redefining biblical words and terms to suit your pet doctrine is just another way of twisting the scriptures. :nono

Faith comes by hearing....

When we hear, we receive faith, from that point forward it’s up to us to believe, to respond in obedience, or faith remains dormant, incomplete, inactive.

echo i said that i only i didnt use obedience and believe see if were led of the spirit we should obey . do you walk in complete obedience ?

He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 3:36

“ Does not obey “ in the second half of this sentence is simply being contrasted with “ Believe” in the first part of the sentence ....

To “ obey” or “ do the Will Of The Father”, was made clear elsewhere . “ The Will Of The Father is for you to BELIEVE in The One He Sent .” Why the constant need to complicate what God has made simple?

your pet doctrine is just another way of twisting the scriptures
do you honestly think that is a fair statement to make? pet doctrine your making a slam which goes against TOS we are all in this race trying to do our best with how we feel what scriptures are saying to us. southern baptist gen baptist pentecostals.. i know those who will say tongues is of the devil.yet you say they are bible

you need a definition for complete ? :shock i will give you a clue %100

Define “complete obedience”.

What does that look like?

Here’s a clue —

But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us. 1 John 1:7-10

Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:14-15

Yes. It’s a fair statement to make.

as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. 2 Peter 3:16

We all are to speak and teach the same thing.

Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
1 Corinthians 1:10

The doctrine of Christ.

By labeling yourself “Baptist” or “Methodist” or
“Pentecostal” or whatever, you have “sectioned” yourself into a catagory that is divisive and leads to deception. A deception that clouds our understanding of the truth.

There is the doctrine of Christ, then there is everything else.

Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
1 Timothy 4:16

There are some things that the Lord leaves up to the individual to do, which some refer to as
“nonessential” teachings.

One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. Romans 14:5

However, when people teach things that are opposed to the doctrine of Christ, a false teaching that leads them to depart from Christ, or depart from the faith, then they are in danger of being rejected by Christ on the Day of Judgement;
ie; not inheriting the kingdom of God.
