Penalty for sin is death

Penalty for not eating of the tree of life is death . Penalty for not drinking of the living waters is death .

You might not want my opinion on "sin nature" :Stp.

Genesis 3:22 Context

19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. 20And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. 21Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. 22And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. 24So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Dave..., go back a chapter to see God's original command and expressed death penalty. Then, look at what happened to Adam and Eve as a result.

Gen 2:16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “You may surely eat of every tree of the garden,
Gen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

What happened to them when they ate the fruit? They became ashamed of their nakedness; hid their bodies with leaves and from God, when he came looking for them; and did the blame-game when God confronted them. That's a clear spiritual death.

Then, in God's curse, he described their eventual deaths:

Gen 3:19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

True , spiritual death .
Then, in God's curse, he described their eventual deaths:

Gen 3:19 By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”
IMO there is no curse of death , this is only the eventuality of Adam's life because of NOT partaking of the fruit of the Tree of Life . All of mankind will now face death because of Adam's mistake being that we can no longer access the Tree of life . Adam was a dead man walking unless he partook of the Tree of Life .
Just as if we do not partake of the Living water offered we will face the second death . That is the way I see it .

Read all of Genesis 3, hawkman. Death is part of God's curse given to Adam and Eve. God must punish human rebellion, but the Father chose to punish his Son in our place to take away our curse as believers!
