What is The Baptism that saves us now?

We are saved; born again, when we believe, in which The Spirit baptizes us into Christ.

  • Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12
This passage DOES NOT say all you have to do is believe. In acts 2:38 Peter told people that were believers that they needed to repent and be baptized in order to have their sins removed. This means they were still in their sins as “believers“.

Jn12:42 Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:
These people believed but were not right with God. Why? Because it takes more then just belief to be accepted by God. Acts 10:34,35

I can use Jesus words as well….
Mat 21;25 The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not then believe him?

What does “believe” mean here? It means “obey”. This is what true Bible belief means. A true Bible believer will obey what the will of the Lord is and they are not accepted/saved until AFTER obedience. If these people “believed” in John they should have OBEYED his teaching. But they didnt.
Heb 5:9. Jesus saves all those that OBEY him.
In this initial baptism we are joined with Christ and are one spirit with Him, (1 Cor 6:17) having been born again. The Spirit is the Baptizer in this baptism.
6:17 says “nothing“ about the Spirit baptizing a person in order to be born again. I am amazed at the passages people use for support when they say nothing they want them to say. Look up a few verses and you will see that the Corinthians were once in sin but they had been “washed”, sanctified, justified “In the name of the Lord”. were the Corinthians baptized? Yes What does water baptism ”in the name of the Lord” do? Removes sins. Acts 2:38. Washes away sins acts 22:16.

Show me where Spirit baptism removes sins. where’s those passages?

For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13
There are many translations that say…”in one spirit”!
Youngs literal says this..
for also in one Spirit we all to one body were baptized,
This speaks of a totally different message. This passage is not saying that it was the Spirit who literally did the baptizing.
Through the Spirit we all come to same conclusion that we need to be baptized into the body. Paul uses the same language a couple of chapters earlier..
1 Cor 7:39 The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
Dose the law literally bind the wife? No it binds by what it teaches. It teaches the wife to live a certain way.
In the same way. Does the Spirit literally do the baptizing into the body? No. He does this through his teaching. We wouldnt know anything about baptism without the teaching of the Spirit. Same for Jesus as Lord, read 1 cor 12:3

Rom 6 and Gal 3 clearly teach that it is water baptism that places us “into Christ” Or “into the body“. They are one and the same.
Now that our sins have been removed and we have been cleansed, which in which we have a new nature, a “new wine skin” we are ready to be filled with the Spirit.
Jesus said….salvation occurs AFTER baptism. Mk 16:16.
Peter says salvation occurs AFTER baptism. Acts 2:38. 1 Pet 3:21
Paul says salvation occurs AFTER baptism. Rom 6:2-4; 6:17,18
The Eunuch went away rejoicing AFTER baptism.
The Jailor was called a believer AFTER baptism.
Paul laid his hands on those in Ephesus AFTER he baptized them for a second time. Acts 19
Saul of Tarsus was still in his sins days after he had believed, confessed, repented and prayed. His sins weren’t washed away until AFTER baptism. Acts 9,22,26

Where are all the passages and examples of people being “saved” or sins removed AFTER “Spirit baptism”?

The three separate and distinct baptisms are typified by the Spirit through Paul in his letter to the Corinthians.
You just used the phrase “by the Spirit”. And your using it in a way that means…the teaching of the Spirit. That is correct and Paul used it the exact same way in 12:13.

Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 1 Corinthians 10:1-2

  • all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,
I dont know what this has to do with this conversation? We are not, under the new covenant, “baptized into Moses”. What it does prove is that “baptism” according to Paul is an immersion in water for the Israelites were completely immersed in water with walls of it on both sides and water filled clouds overhead. The nation of Israel was completely immersed in water and baptized. Were they saved before or after they came out of the waters? After? Its no different today. The new covenant Israel of God (Gal 6) is also to be immersed in water today. Are they saved before or after baptism? The Bible clearly teaches “after”.
We are baptized into Christ, by the Spirit when hear and believe the Gospel, in which we are seperated out from the domain of darkness (Egypt) into His kingdom; the kingdom of God the kingdom of His dear Son.
Where are all those passages that teach this? How about all the examples of Spirit baptism?
Dont have to confess? Dont have to repent?
At this point are still in the world (Egypt) but not “of” the world (Egypt).
Again….Were the Israelites saved before or after coming out of the water? What if they had stayed on the Egypt side of the bank? They would have been destroyed. What if you stand on the bank and say…..nah, im already saved I dont need to get into the water? It would not have worked for the Israelites and it wont work for you!
When we cross the Red Sea, (water baptism) we are proclaiming we are committed to following Jesus (Moses) down into death, having died to this world and have committed to live in the newness of life; our new life in Christ.

This commitment can only be made by a born again believer who is in Christ.
I’ll ask again. Were the Israelites saved before or after baptism? Then why do you think that you can be saved before baptism? They would have been destroyed standing on the bank and so will you. (Standing there thinking…Im already saved).

Only born again believers, who are saved, need to be water baptized.

We are saved; born again, when we believe, in which The Spirit baptizes us into Christ.

  • Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. Luke 8:12

I’ll have to give you a compliment because I thought this was an excellent post. You took some Bible and made an argument for what you believe. I respect that! I dont agree with you but at least you made a Bible argument that allowed us then to have a brief Bible study and it gives me the opportunity to look at the passages you used and study to see if I think they were used correctly or not, then I can then make an argument. This is all I ask. That is what “Bible study” is to be all about. Thanks

Definition:1) immersion, submersion

But into what? What is one submerged into?

Read the passage in Matthew 28:

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even

How do you teach all nations?

Answer- Baptizing (immersion-ing)them in the name of the F,S,H. Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

How does scripture say to immerse them?

Teaching them to observe all the things whatsoever I commanded you.

So the act of Baptizing is teaching them to do all that He commanded the disciples.

Why? What does this Baptism do?

Puts the people in relationship and fellowship with the one who is in control and has say over everything.

For scripture declares, Jesus said in john 14:23:

...If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

What happens when The father and the son make their home with you?

Would this be your answer for a clear conscience before God.....It would definitely be mine.

Why do you want a clear conscience before God?

Example: You just told your brother off in a bad way, and the next day you need money from Him or you and your family will be evicted from your house.

Will you have a good conscience when you come before Him to asked, in that state? NO

What would help before you asked is a sincere apology, to right your wrong.

Likewise what gives us a clear conscience before God? TO SYAY IN HIS TEACHINGS (Word), because if you are doing right then you are not doing wrong...As one is not walking North and south at the same time.

Why the word? Because He is the path of righteousness. John 14:6
"Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me"

What meat did Jesus eat? HE did the father's will...And How do we commune with Him when we drink His blood and eat His body? By doing the Will of the father being faithful to His Word/teachings.

So if you uphold the law through faith in His faithfulness and you are rewarded with Life.....then you should want to be water baptized....

Showing the world what God has done...through Christ who was also quickened by the Spirit.....

Definition:1) immersion, submersion

water. Acts 10:47. Can any man forbid water? He didnt say..can any man forbid the word.
Acts 8..Philip went down into the water. He didnt go down into the word.
Rom 6 is a beautiful description of water baptism.

How does scripture say to immerse them?
You just posted it. They are to be immersed “in the name”. This means by the authority of. And how has God commanded baptism? For those who believe, repent and are then immersed for the remission of sins. God never commanded men to be immersed “into the word”.
Would this be your answer for a clear conscience before God.....It would definitely be mine.

Why do you want a clear conscience before God?
The Bible ties a clear conscience before God with water baptism. 1 Pet 3:20,21. Heb 10:22

Even if people on the forum do not do as you, write perfectly, or argue like you do...You don't down play them. You should not be aggressively sarcastic, and you shouldn't say things like are you in third grade, or is this a joke....etc

Would that build them up? Would that build up or encourage anyone who is listening but not participating? No! It would say to many who are looking in, if this is what Christianity is all about I don't want to be one. For they already get that from the world. We are called out to be set apart from the world.

No!

I dont know who you are directing this to but I’ll jump in. Ive never said you are in third grade. I personally may have challenged your reading comprehension but why should I not do that when you respond to 1 pet 3:21 with…….
”that has nothing to do with water”! Lets look at the passage.
1 pet 3:20,21 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
He even sayes….its not the putting away of the filth of the flesh. Why would he say that? Because that is what people think about when they see someone immersed in water. Are they taking a bath? No. Thats not it at all.

No reasonable person, who is not blinded by their own prejudice, can read this and then say….That has nothing to do with water. If people want to run away from Christianity because I wont accept that nonsense then let them run. If you “build somebody up” through false doctrine it doesn’t matter. They will happily and lovingly end up in hell thanks to the false teaching they believed in.
Can you be taught wrong and end up right?

Which baptism?

Please refer to scripture.
Water baptism!
Jesus said….salvation occurs AFTER baptism. Mk 16:16. Yes or no. We know this is water because he commands man to administer it. Matt 28. And in the first gospel sermon Peter then commands water baptism to those on pentecost. Again, we know thats water because he says its water in acts 10.

Peter says salvation occurs AFTER baptism. Acts 2:38. 1 Pet 3:21
Paul says salvation occurs AFTER baptism. Rom 6:2-4; 6:17,18
This is the most beautiful description of baptism. It is a burial. That’s what water immersion looks like. It is a “planting”. It is a “resurrection”. Thats what water immersion looks like. Then he says….
as you come out of it you are “raised to walk in newness of life”. That is BORN AGAIN. Thats what born again means. You now have a new life free from sin. Rom 6:17,18

Col 2:11-13. Paul tells those in Colosse that they were “quickened” (made alive which is born again) AFTER buried (water) in baptism. If made alive is not born again then I dont know what is.

2 Cor 5:17. If any man be “in Christ” he is a new creature! BORN AGAIN! How does one get “into Christ”? They are “baptized into Christ”. Rom 6, Gal 3, 1 Cor 12 So one does not become a “new creature” until “baptism into Christ”. We know its water because of the description in Rom 6 and all of these other passages that support sins being removed after baptism.

The Eunuch went away rejoicing AFTER baptism. When he came up out of the water!
The Jailor was called a believer AFTER baptism.
Paul laid his hands on those in Ephesus AFTER he baptized them for a second time. Acts 19.
Saul of Tarsus was still in his sins days after he had believed, confessed, repented and prayed. His sins weren’t washed away until AFTER baptism. Acts 22:16.
There are more that can go with this but if this wont convince someone then nothing will. Some people will just stay blinded by their pride and prejudice all the way to the grave.
I will only address 1 post at a time.

I figured as much so that is why I broke up your last reply into numerous post.

Are you saying you don’t even know which baptism you are referring and have no scripture to validate what you are attempting to teach God’s people.
did you see me post them exact words ? i know exactly very clearly what i refer to . i was in this post several pages.. anyone who follows baptism essential to salvation for the washing of sins. i out of context and thus creates a open door . for work based salvation.

asking me if i dont know makes no sense and i ask that we not go that way. when i say its a waste of time.. its not hard to figure out what i am referring to

Water baptism!

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Mark 16:15-16

That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6

Man baptizes in water.

for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now. Acts 1:5

Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit.

Everyone on here has things we think in our mind....but there is a place to hold your tongue. Everything you think about people does not need to come out of your mouth.

You can challenge their thought process with the word not negative comments.
Challenge the word and understanding of it with the word.

Otherwise it becomes an us against them..
You may not see this but God loves everyone and He is the judge of the intentions of the heart. He is the one who can make a man stand.

Even here you call ...what I totally back up with scripture false doctrine....

But that's not according to anything you have proved...
Attack the words I say and my understanding of it...
Not the person...

If someone does not think like you, it does not validate mistreatment.
I'm working on this myself....

For me it questions if the Baptism you preach has saved you...
For if put in the right relationship with God it would teach us to love.....not make enemies...

Can we learn to love those who do not believe as we do? It just makes for a better atmosphere here.....

After this for my sanity...I just have to keep you on ignore...so You dont have to comment back. God bless...peace

Which baptism is Jesus referring to?
I already explained why this is water baptism
There are three different baptisms and three different baptizers.
- Johns baptism in water that is no longer valid
- Spirit baptism which is administered by Jesus and not the Spirit. The Spirit is the element one is being immersed in so 1 Cor 12 doesn’t fit Spirit baptism. Also there are only 2 examples of ”spirit baptism”. Both include the miraculous and neither one were for salvation. This baptism is no longer in effect.
- great commission baptism commanded by Jesus in water. Still in effect today and is for removal of sins or salvation. mk 16:16, acts 2:38. 22:16. This is the one baptism of Eph 4. If you still believe in Spifit baptism then you have 2 baptisms because you know water baptism is still commanded today and you have made Paul out to be a liar.
The baptism we are baptized with when we believe and are born again is the Spirit baptizes us into Christ.
Where are all the examples of this? In acts 8 they were baptized in water and the text specifically says….”they had not yet received the Spirit. So your little “Spirit baptism” must be of the invisible kind that nobody even knows it took place. You’ll say…I was baptized by the “Spirit” (when its Christ and not the Spirit doing the baptizing) and I’ll say…prove it! Then you’ll say….I cant, It just happened.
I believed in Jesus but was never baptized by the Spirit. Why is that? Because it doesn’t happen today! You people are clinging to something that is no longer in effect. All because you hate water for some reason.

For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13

The Spirit is the One doing the baptizing.
How can the Spirit be the one baptizing in himself? The “Spirit baptizes in the Spirit’? Really! I thought the text tells us that it is Jesus that does the baptizing “with the Spirit”.? Get it straight! Here in a couple of sentences you’re about to change it up and tell me ‘’Jesus baptizes us with Spirit”. Is it jesus or the Spirit doing the baptizing? You cant have it both ways and Paul is not going to contradict Jesus.
The new birth, being born again, is the work of the Spirit, not man.
Fine. But at what point is a person ”born again”, made alive, quickened, raised to walk in newness of life? The Bible is very clear on this.
