Galatians 2:16: "We are justified BY THE FAITH OF CHRIST."
Read the above verse AGAIN!
Did you read the "definition" of "Faith in Christ" ??
(Acts 24:24-25) And after some days, when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish, he sent for Paul and heard him concerning the faith in Christ. Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you."
Felix is not reasoning Paul's righteousness but "Righteousness of Christ" which will give you faith in Christ as in 2Pet 1:1. Paul is not saying about his version of self control but the fruit of Spirit according to Gal 5:22. Paul is speaking about a fearful judgment for every believer who willfully sins as in Heb 10:26-27.
Without righteousness in Christ, fruit of the Spirit called Self-Control and the fear of judgment for any willful sinning, then s/he is no believer and does not have faith in Christ according to Scriptures.
(Jas 2:14) What [does it] profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?
Ans: No
(Eph 2:8-9) For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; [it is] the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Is it faith that saves?
Ans: No, It is grace that saves through faith.
What is grace?
(Titus 2:11-14) For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself [His] own special people, zealous for good works.
Is grace sounds like works to you?
(Heb 12:15) looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
The point is, you are not saved through works but by grace through faith. But faith without works is dead. It is not that works are not required but it is not going to save you. Your faith must have works which can justify you. Or else, you will fall short of grace of God.
Faith only is a false doctrine. I haven't seen a single scripture verse that says that. The verses that speaks about saved by faith and not by works are all referring to "works of the law" not "works of what James is referring to" which has nothing to do with the law.
