The Reception of the Holy Spirit

Jesus was a teacher of the law. The law judges and condemns. The law also convicts and leads us to Christ, Galatians 3:24.
Jesus stated we are to be baptized.
You claim it's a work.
I asked you if doing something Jesus commanded is a work.
You answer that the law judges and condemns.
Jesus said He did not come to condemn but to save.

I think your statements are a bit confusing.

We must do Everything that Jesus commanded.

There's a difference between the Law of Moses and the Law of Christ.

Jesus was a teacher of the Mosiac law, not only did he teach it, he elevated it and spiritualized it, so that now you will sin by not only what you do, but also by what you think, Matthew 5:27-30. This is why he abolished it by nailing it to his cross, Colossians 2:14. Christians are not under or subject to the law.

Well, did Jesus elevate it or abolish it?

Right. Baptism is a work of the law. Any religious thing that we do is a work of the law. This is why Paul said, "By the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in his sight" Romans 3:20.
Is the baptism of Christ a deed or a requirement for receiving the Holy Spirit! think about that.

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: (John's baptism) but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire (Baptism of Christ no water)

Within the 613 Mosaic laws there are laws (commandments) of God that were especially written just for the Hebrews pertaining to the rituals of the Temple, sacrifices, festivals, Torah, Kohanim and Levites, the King and the Nazarite. Then there are the existing moral laws (commandments) for all of us to still follow as in prayers and blessings, love and brotherhood. The poor and unfortunate, treatment of the Gentiles, Marriage, divorce and family. Forbidden sexual relations, business practices, employees and servants. Vows, oaths, swearing, Court and Judicial procedures. Injuries and damages, property and property rights, criminal laws. Prophecy, idolatry and all its practices as the moral laws (commandments) keep us in line with the will of God.

Matthew 22:35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, 36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Although I don’t agree the ‘born-again’ term (it’s Nicodemean humour, scotched by Jesus),
So you do not believe what Jesus spoke to Nicodemus?

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
Joh 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
Joh 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Joh 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Laws/rules/religion, are not needed for initial salvation (conversion), but very beneficial for converts. They don’t justify us into Christ’s kingdom, but they do help us be just, within it. James & Paul rejected antinomianism, and both (I believe) enjoined good religion.

There are five requirements to Salvation

1. Confession - Acts 2:21; Romans 10:9, 10

2. Repentance - Mark 1:14, 15

3. Faith - John 3:14-18

4. Regeneration - John 3:3-8

5. Holy Scripture - 2 Timothy 3:15

James 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

"Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to those that believe" Romans 10:4. To be under the law is to be under the curse, Galatians 3:10.

I disagree with much of this. However this is turning into another baptism thread and we have one running already (What is the baptism that saves us now?). So I'm going to (metaphorically) bite my tongue and leave it there.
well I am speaking about the reception of the Holy Spirit which is the title of this thread. Can you give me your understanding how we become indwelled with the Holy Spirit if it is not through the Spiritual rebirth from above?

The only requirement for salvation is faith in Christ and his Gospel.

The Holy Spirit is only given to those that hear and believe the Gospel, Galatians 3:4.

Catholics, Calvinist, Judaism do not believe the Gospel.
Well, that doesn't answer my question as you still have not given proof so I will withdraw my question.

Jesus only fulfilled the Temple laws and sacrifices. We are to still live by the moral parts of the 613 laws that I posted with the greatest one of love.
